'85 416-8 Tail Lamps

Recommended Posts

Tankman

Grandsons like summer mowin' dusk 'n dark. Can't blame 'em during this heat wave.

Not knowin' much, thinking of adding, in place of reflectors, tail lamps to my '85 416-8. The 416-8 is Kohler powered (Wheel Horse makes it, Kohler shakes it!).

Does the engine generate enough "juice" to light two, single bulb, trailer style marker lamps? What do you say Sparky?  :eusa-think:

For the factory look, Napa 1264D. about 8 bucks a piece and bolt in. Those little 194 bulb draw squat. LED's are nice. Nice and $$$$$$$$$

Walmart sells marker lights bolt right on about $4 each, yes the wiring should be back there, you may have to pull the fender to find it but most you will anyway to install the lights.

Installed two single lamp bulb tail lamps today. Grandsons are waitin' for dust to mow 'd lawn.

Didn't find a pig tail under the fender although I didn't remove the assembly. Ran a wire from the light switch.

Used solderless connectors and shrink tubing, bolted the lamp housings in place with 10-32 x 3/4" screws using star washers to insure a good ground. All is well. I've had a few lamps fail 'cause the ground wasn't workin'. The star washers dig in a bit IMHO.

Light 'em up!  :ychain:

I do like NAPA pricing, 4" 12 v 4411-1 head lamps were on sale, less than seven bucks each. GE bulbs, I picked up two just for spares.

Try Tractor Supply for some nice Blazer LED marker lights that are bright.

That I'll do. I have a Tractor Supply close by, grandsons love the store.

Not looking for what I might be, they need the models, tractors, trailers, clothes, animals when available. :)

(Hate to admit it, grandsons have brown hooted sweatshirts, "Got Dirt?" :scared-ghostface: )
