decksetter 50 #1 Posted July 5, 2013 For those who have done the swept forward axle swap, is it necessary to remove the engine? I have a 520H with a dead onan and a 416-8 that runs like a champ, so I'm looking at putting the p216 on the hydro tractor along with the 416 steering and narrower tires, but don't know if I need to do them at the same time. I'd like to see how the 16 horse handles the 60" deck just out of curiosity before I make the tractor un-60-able. leeave96 487 #2 Posted July 7, 2013 Why not just move the engine from the 416 over to the 520H?
MalMac 1,328 #3 Posted July 7, 2013 I just put reduction on a 90 520 and did not have to remove the engine. Kinda like working a Rubik's cube but it can be done.
decksetter 50 #4 Posted July 7, 2013 Kind of weighing my options... I want to use the 416 steering and engine but use the hydro. Then I will eventually find another engine to pair with the 8 spd and gear reduction setup, hopefully with a loader. So I guess the question now is, should I swap the engine and steering setups, or swap the hydro for the 8 spd..... Decisions decisions!
