Nice work Mark. I'd been following the thread on MoM. Great fabrication work. I'd love one of these, it looks brilliant. Must be a hoot to drive!

Thanks, I'm getting there :)

Last bit of painting before my holiday, I can pretty well put the whole rear end together once it is painted.

I've spilt the front transmission to put new seals and repaint. I was surprised it was a 4 pinion 8 speed with 1" axles, but quite a lot of you pointed out this is normal for a lot of 300 series transmissions.

The hubs were a pain and here's why.

Looks like I'm cutting a new keyway next weekend as one hub is pretty chewed up :(

Whilst I wait for the seals to come and a 1/4" end mill I've cleaned up the hubs and made them the same as the rears :D

Will hopefully get the rear end together today, then it's on with sorting out the front chassis...

I managed to get the gearbox and chassis cleaned and painted :D

The remote gear linkages are almost there, not a lot of room for both and the steering box.

Here's the two halves on different benches just waiting to come together.

Bendy will be on all fours next weekend :D

actually sooner than I thought....

big progress today biggrin.png

Bendy is back to a rolling chassis... I fit the remaining oil seats in the front transmission, ordered some more woodruff keys and started the reassembly process. Lots of new nuts and bolts, its a shame to fit rusty ones back in especially when you can see them..... well I did cheat reusing the old ones for the transmission and the wheel bolts, 7/16 unf are hard to come by and not so cheap. I'm going to buy some zinc and have a go at electroplating them.

Also got the remote shift  working the forward reverse, just the high low lever to fit.

It's really coming together now Mark, and looking more fab with every shot.

Is it just me or does that front view look as though the RHS tyre is narrower than the left??

Thanks for the kind words chaps!

Another full day and not a massive amount to show, remote gear linkages are done. Managed to strip and spray the hood stand. Just the hood to paint now and another few coats on the fender.

Well I'm back home for the weekend, I've sat the engine on. Next job is to make a magnum oil pan fit the frame...

IMG_20140918_193840_zpsurpthdqn.jpg

Then sort the brake and clutch linkage, fingers crossed it might be running under its own power!
