I've seen much worse! looks like a great machine. and for a 603 thats pretty cool. it has the right foot rests and steering wheel which are pretty hard to find. I have a repowered 603 and its one of my favorite tractors! very nice!

I would never call that ugly! 3/4 of mine look way worse than that, but I really see nothing bad about it. Great find Brian! :handgestures-thumbup:

If we ever have an ugly tractor contest that is the ONE contest that you would lose miserably in! :ychain:

Good things come to those who wait. That is a nice score, I'm sure it is going to look sweet when you are done with it.

It was probably very hard for old grand-dad to let that thing go.  Chatting with him likely helped him to know you aren't one of these guys who's going to strip it down for parts to sell on E-Bay.  It looks great just as it is... showing off the decades of work it enjoyed doing and can continue to enjoy  :)

Hey that ain't ugly! She is a hot number if ya ask me, 603 what a peice! The 603 came with all 3 types of footrest's, the step down type are the rarest (Part # 3624 I think) they only made them for a very short time in late 1960 early 1961 and then they switched to the elongated more common angled footrest's, part # 4200 and 4201 and they are a left side and a right side. They also had the more modern 1962 and up stirrup style footrest, I forget that part # though. Cool machines them 603's....One of my favorite Models for sure! The steering wheel on yours is original but it is mounted wrong, the curved part should be up over the hood, that gives you alot more room down by uhhh, your stomach area. I see alot of these steering wheels on backwards. If you check the pics on a 603 manual, you can see it in the correct position. KJ

Cut around a foot of length off the chains would improve it's looks greatly. :techie-eureka:  Or you could ship it down to me and you wouldn't have to look at it. You could keep those chains to make the shipping less. :laughing-rofl:

Never thought I could land a Special 603 but today I did, no engine & rough around the edges but for sure rebuildable.
So this is some of my Herd that are special
54-PT20 Walk Behind, 57-RJ35, 5-701s, 702, 1045, 34R, 78- C-161, 1st year Blackhood Fiberglass Hood, Ark 500 FEL on the only tractor I ever bought new 2004 315-8 (regrets that I traded my C141 I grew up with showing me how great WH is, wasn’t collecting than)
and have to mention best deal ever was the C85 w/snow blower I won at the Big Show in 2021 at the raffle 5$ of tickets.

Hi I'm new to all of this. I just got a 603 Wheel Horse. I will be needing a key and a front tire to start with. It looks like it is in pretty good shape. I would also be interest in accessories for the 603 such plows, disk, mowing deck.
