Snow Plow Side-to-Side Movement

Recommended Posts

WheelHorseSteve

Hello all --

I have been searching -- without avail -- for pictures of the modification that folks have done off the mule drive mount to prevent side-to-side movement / twisting of the snow plow. It seems like something that Wheel Horse should have provided.... I have to think that the play will otherwise wear the rear mount / plow over time and puts lateral stress on the lift mechanism. I'd like to take on this modification.

Thanks in advance!

-Steve

Don, thanks for posting that. I've forgotten about that modification and would like to have one made for my plow.

It seems like something that Wheel Horse should have provided....

They eventually did - on blade frames for a few other models. Here's a clip from the IPL for a 79355 dozer blade:

Thanks so much, guys! I need to work on my searching skills... was trying "plow support" "plow bracket" etc.. Looks like "plow modification" would have done it!

Cheers!

I can see where these anti side-to-side movement brackets would work. I myself have never really had a problem with it. Maybe it's something I should have been and need to keep an I on. I have been plowing for several years and have not had any effects from side-to-side or have seen any undo wear from it. I wonder if doing certain maneuvers with the blade down while trying to turn does it? Must have been a issue for the XI series for them to warrant putting a anti sway bracket on.

Here are photos of the 5xi application.

It does seem to help and is also easy to attach.
