310-8 restoration

I was just looking at pics of 310-8 most have black on the hood ribs below the head lights , mine does not its all red any one know the deal with this my hood is almost ready for paint and I was debating on black or not ?

As I hear they made some all red hoods that were sold to large stores such as lowes or Home Depot for resale. I just redone my 310 hood and it was all red under the black as in the red was mask off and painted black after the red in the factory.

I have seen some all red ones and they look good too.

I guess it is personal preference.

My 1985 310 has a red hood....this was also the first year for the 310.

this is not the first debate on why,i bought my 308-8 new in 86 from my local toro dealer,so they were not just for box stores,up here they didnt sell wh,s at box stores,only at the dealer,i painted my red hood and regret it,shes going back to orig when she needs paint again

Been wondering about the all red thing too. Mine just sticks out with a red hood.

I like them with the black on the nose, I've as many call them the "bandit" hoods like a black mask over the nose.
