I picked up a tiller today 1251-9 serial number and 50827 model number. It was complete with the mule drive and 2 belts the tines are in great shape. It could use paint and a cleaning but its in good shape. Does anyone know what year and model tiller this is?

Your model number is 7-1251 written with a dash. This model was sold 1973-74 but the 9 on the end that is not used tells us this one was a 1974 model 9-5=4=1974. Always subract 5 from the 6th digit for the model year if there are 6 digits.

Thanks I did not see the 7 on the tag

I hope it does not need too much modification to fit my 1989 310-8 I know need the rockshaft and cable and will make these up tomorrow.

Here are some pics

I am going to use it this fall to redo my front yard and then I will disassemble it and give a paint job and add a rear flap of some sort like the newer ones

Hooked it up today. Just a little modification of the idler pulley bracket. I made one like the newer tillers so it does not get in the way of the attach bracket lever. I also had to move the lift lever to get it to lift the tiller without a rock shaft. It works great and its not as hard to lift as the snow blower. Wow does it work good. Now to renovate my front yard

I've never had a rockshaft on mine and always wondered why people say you need them. I don't think it's too hard to lift the tiller and it lifts so much higher without it.
