clintonnut 126 #126 Posted June 27, 2013 Getting down to the nitty gritty now! Got my ignition switch wired, ground wires done, shut down solenoid wired with relays for it as well as the starter, alternator wiring done and everything wrapped together and cleaned up. Last night I was getting ready to put the AFC on the pump and noticed my rack is seized up again. Figured it would have to be rebuilt so I figured I'd try to free it up myself. I took each DV assembly out and marked the positioning as well as shim thickness so flow CCs are close and then cleaned out the pump and used a sharpie pen with 1000 grit paper to clean up the plunger barrels. Cleaned them really well and then lubed them with ATF. Rack moves better than it ever did now. Fuel lines are done and turbo is coming this weekend. clintonnut 126 #127 Posted July 17, 2013 Truck has been on the road for over a week. Plenty of bugs had to be worked out between one tire that doesn't want to balance, bump steer, dropping t-case to deal with a trans issue, a bad injection pump (now a 215 pump), overcharging (disconnected wire), etc. As of this week, two new problems surfaced. One, the headgasket leaks coolant out of the block below the #2 exhaust (hisses when hot) and the tappet cover gasket already deteriorated and pisses a decent amount of oil. I picked up my sound system supplies yesterday and bumper supplies today, ordered all the gauges I needed and nearly finished the bumper. I dove in on buying final parts for this thing because I sold my daily 1990 truck last Thursday. Charlie
Ken B 3,116 #128 Posted July 17, 2013 Man that bumper looks killer. With the amount of work you have done taking this truck down to literally nothing the bug list is pretty small! The Poop truck is gone and yer enjoyin a sundae at the Peach Wave. Life is good.
clintonnut 126 #129 Posted August 3, 2013 Here's what's been going on.... Gauges done, sound system in, floor mats in, bumper done, working out some other bugs and then washed it off and shot some pics. Leaving for college next week and will paint the hood when I'm home next along with a tailgate.... Have about 1000 miles on it and the turbo's quite incredible. Maxes at 60PSI and 1300* on the pyro. Yesterday I sheared off 12 out of 16 axle shaft bolts on the rear on my way down to the shop. Wasn't even driving it hard so I shared the 4 bolts between the 2 sides and babied it down there. Drilled them out bigger with stronger bolts.... Notice the steering stabilizer that utilizes the original tie rod location on passenger knuckle and is mounted to the diff cover with 2 pieces I plasma'd out: My FAVORITE picture of this truck as of right now. Storm passing by, old shed and some green grass Charlie

clintonnut 126 #131 Posted October 11, 2013 Well, I'm on week 10 out of 16 for my first semester of college. I went home 3 weeks ago to work on stuff and blow off some steam. I ended up wet sanding and buffing the 2 passenger side doors and also finished assembling Nicks 4bt short block. Nick's 4bt Talking my cousin into buying this as a project. It is a 1989 W350 with hundreds of thousands of miles but a good starter truck with plenty of potential. Price is decent too. Since up here at college, my brain has occasionally gone off on tangents on what I still want to do to this thing before I feel it is a close to done as I want it to be. In list of importance: Install a better clutch (dual disc), while in there, replace 3rd syncro Install a vintage air HVAC unit Swap pitman arm out for a Ford one for better steering geometry Paint hood and tailgate, finish wetsanding/buffing Finish interior (floor mats, sound deadener, rear seat, install a sub, front door panels) Swap out injector pump for a different one Rebuild turbo Install Fox 2.0 shocks Hook up fog lights Install towing hitch Purchase fuel and air PSI gauges as well as volt meter Install on board air Install aux fuel tank Get truck bedlined Possibly tint all windows to 30% So, with this and the Dodge Dart wagon project, I'll be plenty busy over the holidays... clintonnut 126 #132 Posted October 11, 2013 Oh, this was what I did at first right after college started. I wet sanded and buffed the bed side and passenger fender.

clintonnut 126 #136 Posted October 13, 2013 I can't bring a vehicle up freshman year so it is being stored at my Dad's shop. Charlie
clintonnut 126 #137 Posted December 3, 2013 Well I took many steps forward on this thing over Thanksgiving break and only one step back. The one step back was driving home from my dads Thanksgiving night and blowing the headgasket. Coolant leaks out the side of the block now. Over this coming Christmas break, which starts next week, I plan to resurface the head (possibly O ring too), wet-sand and buff the other side of the truck, install a dual disc clutch, fix third gear syncro, install Vintage Air HVAC and finish up the interior (buy a carpet, find ramcharger front seats, add more sound proofing, install front door panels). I also will make up an emergency brake, install front driveshaft and fabricate a bracket for the 4x4 shifter. Besides that, I painted the hood, tailgate, grille and fuel filler doors! Also made these filler pieces on the sheet metal brake at my high school when I stopped in for a visit. They go between the grille and bumper: Turning out how I wanted it to!!!
