lift assist spring

hi guys, i'm told the snowblower and tiller use the same lift assist spring. anyone know the part number? or can someone tell me the spring dimensions? wire guage size? number of coils? thank you. mike in mass.

I cant confirm that the spring is the same for both attachments, but I am thinking that I have read the same thing somewhere.

The specs for the snowblower spring are in this thread:

The p'n is 4629 and it was close to $30 a couple or 3 years ago.

yes it is the same spring,or it works for both attachments,mine came with my tiller but i use it for one of my blowers

My spring is 24-1/2 coils, coil diameter 1-1/2", coil length 5-1/2", length between hooks 7-1/2", wire diameter is .220.

I've thought about using a hood spring from a older car, you know before everything had hood props or shocks, the ones I take off my race cars mid 70's chevelles look about right.

Some pics of the lift springs made from a garage door.

The two center springs are pulled with a turnbuckle.

The outside spring is attached by hand and used for fine

adjustment. The force required to lift the snowblower

can be adjusted from -5 lbs to +20 lbs by changing the

point of attaching the spring. All springs are attached

to a bar in the attach-a-matic.
