Along the way, Townes influenced one of my long time favorite musicians, Steve Earle. Steve followed some of Townes' musical direction, and unfortunately some of his personal lifestyle choices also. Fortunately for those of us who enjoy his music, he came out alive and healthy on the other side, and is still writing and recording and performing on a regular basis. This is one of my favorite tunes from Steve's El Corazon album. I saw Ten Years After in 1971, and it was one of those mind-awakening events that made me realize how exciting live rock & roll could be. I saw Alvin play later with various bands over the years, every show a real treat. Here's one of my favorite tunes from TYA's early years, this version recorded live in 1970 at the Fillmore East. -------- As I type this, my copy of the 1973 Recorded Live CD is literally stuck inside my Ford Escape's player.
