Recommended Posts

 OK-Guys- If I ever get my crankshaft back-should I replace the big crank roller bearings? These seen fine, but I don't know what their mortality rate is- I think Brian Miller has them for $15 plus shipping. Thanks for any advice-AL B)

While you've got it all apart, I would say yes. I would say this is also a place where I'd only use OEM parts...

Those bearings need to have practically ZERO play. I have re-used them before, but only if they were in exceptionally good shape.

There is an "end play" measurement you need to make at the end of the rebuild. You check the amount of lateral play that is in the crank with the bearing plate installed, and add of remove shims based on the results. With worn bearings, you're gonna have poor measurements, which could lead to premature wear in a couple critical spots.

Just my $.02...
