Make sure you put a little weight up front for your son. I had a Lawn Ranger with a 5hp Briggs and it pulled a wheelie on me an left me sitting on my butt in the street in front of my house. No injuries but plenty of embarrasment! The Briggs was an aluminum block motor so that made it a little lighter in the front.

Mike(sold it the next week)

A couple of weeks ago, my little guy and I decided to do some work on the 416. We needed to change the plugs, engine and trans filters, drain and fill the oils, grease everything and make some adjustments. I let him do most of the work (non-dangerous) and he was so proud to have "Fixed" the tractor. He's 5, so it's never too young to start 'em. Have fun with it, it's a blast to see how happy they are when they help dad!
