Made a poaching run into Michigan to Haul this one home for my brother today. But soon as I got out to load it I could see someone didnt know how to work on a Wheel Horse. I dont think you will need an eagle eye to see a couple problems  It did come with a little extra item for the money. B)

Nick,

That's the "rare" tool kit option. He may have had one too many cocktails when he put that deck on.

That's a 518H, isn't it, Nick? It doesn't look too terrible, and the wrench and the hose clamps should come in handy on future projects. :banghead:

But..... how can someone screw up that bad hitching the deck up? B)

Nick looks like a nice 518.....you & your brother should be proud saveing from a PO who obviously needs one less MGD...and deserves an MTD. B)

I think that's the off set to the right deck option. Also, the belt is placed on the "don't harm the grass" setting. Looks like he found a place to store his hose clamps also.

But, on the bright side, that's not a bad looking tractor.

I'm guessing the wrench and clamps are there because the spring and/or lock rod are not working (missing?). It would be a real shame if the MULE DRIVE fell off.

YAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

and the offset deck option.... TOO FUNNY !

Otherwise, a nice find !

Yep this is a 518. It doesnt look to bad but the Onan engine might come off for another project he is working on. B)

Looks to me like they clamped that wrench in just to get the belt tighter. B) I didnt look to see if the wrench was craftsman or made in china .

A few more RARE options on this tractor:

Hitch pin bolted to gas tank, never missplace the pin again.

Eye bolt holding on whats left of the deck wheel.

Are you sure that's a deck wheel? Looks almost like a pulley. B)

Yep thats a deck wheel alright. Amazine how much they can wear down over time. Not like your puttin 100,000 highway miles on them.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. Don't we all need examples of what NOT TO DO??? B) Consider it a "teaching tool"!

Nick,

The mower deck wheel with the eye bolt was PRICELESS!!!:banghead:B)B) My gues is that if the hitch pin does get away alls ya' gotta do is retrace you steps from where ya' run outa' gas and you will find it! B)

I bought a model 656 out of Northern New Jersey a few years back that had duct tape wrapped around the mower deck wheel. B)

I'm gonna post a picture tonight of another gem in the world of .... Ifn's ya' ain't gots the right part jus' make one.

Wild Bill in Richmond, Va.
