Does it hurt the engine or the engine performance?

If it goes straight up, and is left in the rain, it's possible you'll get a bunch of water in your engine. VERY BAD!

If it's properly sized, length and diameter, it's possible it could increase performance.

Other than that, I can't think of any harm being done, beyond hearing loss that is.....

The Other Thing That Dal Did Not Mention Here Is Support Of The Stack That You May Be Useing. Some Have Said That It Is Possible That You Can cRaCk The Head If There Is Too Much Weight And Or Vibration. I Can See This Being Done Because I Am A Pipe Fitter By Trade. You Start Sticking A Bunch Of Length Out There Like A Prom %*#@ And It Wont Take Much To Set Up Vibration And Could Act Like A Lever Swingin Around Out There. Be Sensible With The Length And Try And Integrate A Support In Your Stack! B)

I like mufflers and added one to my stack because the thing would come off at all.

I used an air hook to support the stack on Tall Girl:

So far it seems to have worked just fine! B)

Thanks Duke, I've gotten a lot of compliments on her. Too bad my finishing skills are so far below the grade set by others here. I won't name names, wouldn't want to bring Eldon or TT into the discussion.
