Home made 3 Point link - GT14

After checking my posts...doh I got the measurements for the lower link arms.

I finally got hold of some 5/8" trunions/spherical bearings - and as I now have the makings of a workshop I thought I'd make a start on my lower link arms for my GT14.

The bearings are 1 3/16 outer and I was thinking how best to mount them in the arms. They are hardened steel so possible to weld, but it might crack or seize them so I had a go at drilling out the hole first...

Then cleaned the hole out and applied a little heat...

and pressed the bearing in with the vice...

that's the first one in, 3 more to go !

Ey up bruv! Are you coming to play with your GT14 this weekend. Time to get hydraulics working. And you'll probly need summat welding. Be able to try your new arms then. If it aint too cold!

Think the new workshop is more than broken in! Surprised he can do anything in there. Looks worse than mine already. Hardly any floor space left! Think He used his snow plough to push everything through the doors and then shut them quick before it all falls out

My favourite brother had a go at putting the bends in the arms ! (thanks)

A mere 7 tons required to bend the 10mm / 3/8" bar

like the way you mounted the bearings in the arms rather than welding them. looks much cleaner.

i really need to get a press to be able to bend thick plate like that. much better than mounting in a vise and beating the crap out of it and then having to clean up all the marks left behind. used to have access to a horizontal mounted ram that we made fixtures for bending all sorts of complicated bends in different size material. real handy, sometimes you had to spend some initial hours on making a form, but it was worth it when you had the finished product look like a 'factory' type fabrication.

12mm turnbuckles (bottle screws) from a boat shop... they will do nicely thank you very much! and I managed to get a CAT 0 top link for a song too !

They need cutting down, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

nice looking fabrication do you have the top link or do you have to fab that too?i am looking into fabricating the top link,i know you can still buy the top link bushings/bearings from toro.

Managed to buy a top link from the bay for £10 inc shipping (16 bucks)

The top link can be purchased from Rural King for about $20....At least around my area of Indiana.

i didnt mean the top adjustable i guess what i should have said is the was the rock bar or the center lifting arms that fit into the top of the frame with the arm that lifts from the cylinder in the frame.

quick update...

made the lift arm linkages today, one side is fixed. The other adjustable.
