Big Jake 18 #1 Posted November 19, 2011 I just pick up a RJ58 4 HP Kohler with no spark. The guy I got it from said he put in a set of points still no spark. Can someone tell me how to test the coil? Or tell me what else to check. Thanks Jake :dunno:
wallfish 15,769 #2 Posted November 20, 2011 I found that setting the points to .020 doesn't usually work on on the K90/91s. If the points are off a little bit, you will loose spark. Try closing the points all the way and open them up very slightly each time you pull the starter. If the coil and condenser are good you should get a spark. Qball312 9 #3 Posted November 21, 2011 I did the same thing John did and it worked. I sanded down the points with a fine grit sand paper, re-gapped them and it started right up.
