engine swap!

Recommended Posts

Need to put another K series in my 79 C121 but all the different bases on the engines confuse me. My engine has no flange and I can't find one like it so how do the others mount?? Thanks :thumbs2:

The C-xx1and C-xx5 tractors used the "shaker" mount engines and use a AS series engine with the small base engine block, the earlier or even later around 1985 used the large base engine block, if you locate a engine like that it will bolt straight to the frame, you will need to remove all the mounting blocks and engine cradle, IF the engine came from a WH the oil pan will be drilled on the bottom for the right side mounting bolts, but if not they can be drilled or J bolts used to mount the engine on the right side, another thing to remember the 10hp and up WH engine uses a 1 1/8" crank, most other brands use 1" BUT if you get a 1" crank, you can get a PTO sleeve from a 8hp engine and still use the rest of your orig. PTO, well speaking of PTO another item you will need a is a longer PTO hoop, and a lower PTO hoop bracket from a pre 78 or post 85 tractor as your machine has the short PTO hoop and the lower mount is part of the engine cradle.

Not sure where your located, but I have engines both styles and lots parts, if needed.
