How to test a stator

Recommended Posts

bo dawg

Hope some one is still around and not on the road to the show. I dont want to be left by myself.

I'm choosing to stay home, not enough money. Well... I could go but then I wouldn't have any cash to buy something.

Any way, does anybody know how to test to see if a stator off a magneto system is good? I am replacing the coil but don't have any ideal if stator has a problem.

Thanks

You should have continuity through the stator. IIf it measure open with an Ohm meter it is bad.

I don't know what the proper ohms reading is for a good one though.

Should read open from either wire to ground.

Best way to test it is to measure the AC voltage when the engine is running, though I know you don't have that option at the moment!
