Jumping a 1054?

And no I don't mean anything kinky or physical by "jumping".

Is there a way to jump start a starter/gen setup? I'm looking for a quick and dirty way to see if the engine will fire off before I do much else to it.

I know I'll have to provide power to the coil but have never been around a S/G before. Hate to have to spend the time going through all the wiring issues.

PO said it rolled off a trailer turning a corner and he never used it again.

Thanks for any help.

If you are trying to work around the start switch, you just need to connect (-) to ground, and (+) to the "A" terminal of the S/G. As you said, you need to provide (+) 12v to the coil.

I like to use a switch-controlled booster pack, but you can use jumper/booster cables if you don't allow them arc at the armature ("A") stud of the starter motor. (can damage the threads on the stud)

A piece of strap steel (or similar) bolted to the "A" post will give you a bigger & safer target for the cable clamp. :thumbs2:
