Nice to meet you guys, hope you all enjoyed the show.

Neil isnt kidding about the size of the show, I believe it is billed as the worlds largest show of its type. They estimate 25,000 people living on site during the show.

I would like to point out that not all the glasses in the picture are ours!

Just got back from 3 days there, had an excellent time, and managed not to buy anything!

Great Pics Neil and what a superb day out.

I have been many times and enjoy it as much every time.

We also were very blessed with superb weather.

I am pleased to see that you managed to find a few Horses.

I also spotted the few there with Richard, who also was a first timer at the fair.

Hope to meet up again before to long, also good to meet Andy and Jim also.

Cheers guys.

Anglo Traction

Well it was great to meet up with you guys (Neil, Jim, Andy and Roly) in person finally :thumbs2: . I've been to a few of what I considered to be Big Shows, but this beats all.

Roly and myself spent 12 hours there and we must have walked several miles and only saw a 1/3rd of it !.

I could have spent a fortune on bits n pieces if I could carry it all.

I'll add to Neil's excellent photos with mine and Roly's and place them in the Show Section as soon as I can.

There will also be a little challenge for any of you guys over in the U.S. who are into Vintage U.S. Farm Tractors to identify one?.

Regards.

Great photos Neil :banghead: and yes, it was great to meet up with you guys just a shame Rex (Farmer) and Simon (Landsurveyor) couldn't make it. I don't know about you lot but I could easily have spent the rest of the afternoon chatting and drinking :thumbs2: .

Round here many older local folk still refer to the show as 'Stourpaine' rather than the 'Great Dorset Steam Fair', a reference to the original site of the show (history link)

It is indeed huge which is why my wife and I try to spend at least two days camping there - you just can't see it all in a day! We've been going for years but I still remember the first time we aproached the site on the main road from the east in that, as you reach the top of the final hill, suddenly you see a large town that has sprung up on farm land in the middle of nowhere.

Special thanks to Richard for bringing along the cylinder head for me and for suggesting the meet in the first place.

Yes Andy I still usually call it the Stourpaine steam fair as I attended the very first one over 40 years ago.

It in those days it only covered about 2/3 fields and was in a different location much closer to the village of Stourpaine.

Very happy memories of lots of years attending the show.

Excellent meeting up with everyone. Will have to do it again.

Just going out to do some log hauling with my C141.

Cheers for now.

Roly.
