while putting one of my new style plows on my C160 i moved the other plow over to where i have,i thought,an old style that should fit my 854.i noticed something i thought was strange.the old style plow is wider then my new style.the ones for my c series tractors are 42 inches but the one on the old style frame is 48 inches.is this correct?if pictures are needed i will post some.thanks jim

Are the frames the same length, or is the old style frame actually shorter?

i measured it fast TT and looked like the old one is an inch shorter.i will do a good measure and get some pictures.the old one is more of a c channel frame, and narrows faster towards the plow end. jim

i remeasured and it looks like the new style from the pin that goes thru the blade to the other end is aprox.66 1/2 inches while the old style measured 65 1/2 inches.another couple of interesting notes of my two new style blades one is about 16 inches tall the other one is about 17 the same as the old style blade.one new style blade has about four positions to mount the springs the other new style has twice as many spring mounting holes.both the new style plows are 42 inches.ok back to the original question.the old style plow is 48 inches and on supposedly an old style frame.heres a few pictures.is this an original wheel horse plow and frame? and for what style tractor?

Looks to be a Gravely plow. They had a similar design however the frames were the streight A frames a bit different then the Wheel Horse Design.

Definitely Gravely. (good eye, Jack! :WRS: )

Probably from the old 400 or 800 series 4 wheel tractors.

My neighbor has a 1979 8163-T with this style of blade, which is apparently the "second generation". (with the extra "X" bracing.)
