414-8 test light board

Recommended Posts

does the headlight switch go through the test light circuit board?.

my head light switch is good but no head lights (tested the bulbs and they are good).

all grounds seem to be clean and tight.

i think the test light board is bad.

i just want to get the head lights working.

on the 1987 year no it does not,it comes out of the engine to switch, then to the lights,i dont have a diagram for my 89 414 but its a little different, but it doesnt go through the board either,do you have power at the switch?if so then probally a bad wire,so if you have a volt meter test for power at the switch,on my 89 it was a bad connection at a fuse connector,2.00 fuse connector and she was fixed

ok i have no power at the head light switch.

i pulled and cleaned all the connectors.

i checked the fuses and they are ok.

it does look like it comes off the engine to the switch.

also my volt/charge meter does not work.

does this mean the engine is not charging also?.

am i looking at a big/expensive mess to fix it?.

this is a kohler magnum 12 hp engine in case anyone is wondering.

ok i checked everything again and i found the 15 amp fuse dirty.

cleaned it up and headlights and volt meter are working like they should.

as far as the test lights i don't really care about them as i check everything like oil and such all the time anyways.

thanks can whlvr for your input. that made me check again.

ok i still have an issue.

the battery keeps getting drawn down and the brake light on the test board is always lite dimly. you can only see it at night. even with the key off.

can i just unplug the board and will the tractor run with it unplugged?.

my 310-8 keeps drawing down the battery too and i think it's the same issue.
