meadowfield 2,545 #1 Posted February 16, 2011 Anyone used a smaller battery on the 10hp engine models? A 33Ah battery for a tractor with no lights seems an overkill, they are also twice the price of a 14Ah. Anyone got any experience? thanks
Anglo Traction 759 #2 Posted February 25, 2011 Hi Mark, I'm no expert, but my 'Raider' manual says a 10-12 & 14hp should have a 42ah Battery. An 8hp uses a 24ah. I can only assume that a 10hp without the 'Optional Lights ' fitted, needs the Stored Amperage for the Starter. Maybe a 14ah may not have the legs to cope with Starter demand? I have Not used 42ah on mine , I went for the '038' (38ah-265cca) from Halfords. Cost me
meadowfield 2,545 #3 Posted February 25, 2011 Thanks Richard, thought I might have had more feedback. Agree with you on lights and cold starting... My quad with a 400cc engine has a 14Ah battery, incedentally both of my dads B-111's have 17Ah batterys fitted on briggs 11hp engines - and start perfectly. Though they have a seperate light cct from the alternator. Still seems on the large side though! mark
