Suburban 550 28 #1 Posted January 11, 2011 Well, after piecing this tractor together, what started out as a 753 and added some 854 parts to it, I was determined this tractor was going to be a worker instead of a trailer queen. We finally had some snow on Friday and Saturday and figured it was time to put it to work. Never had a round hood as a worker and was really pleased with the power the 8 h.p. had. I was just wandering how many of you use your round hoods as workers and if so post some pictures. Here are a couple of mine after the work was done (Sorry no action shots, I had no photographer)
bell 11 #2 Posted January 11, 2011 Looks good Ray! I use all of mine to work with. I rarely ever have a photographer either, but mine do anything from uprooting small trees to pulling a cart. :banghead:

Suburban 550 28 #5 Posted January 11, 2011 Nice pics, TT. This round hood has become one of my all time favorites. Here's a picture of what it looked like when I bought it on e-bay, still at the sellers place. Pretty sad lookin'.
wallfish 15,770 #6 Posted January 11, 2011 Still use it all the time. Pushes dirt all summer and snow all winter.
sorekiwi 761 #7 Posted January 11, 2011 I also dont usually have a photographer, so I cant supply action shots. This one's been on light duty lately, sweeping or pulling a cart: And this one keeps the weeds in check: This one spread quite a bit of stone on my driveway:

JimD 3,345 #12 Posted January 11, 2011 Great pics guys. I sold the only roundhood I had, big mistake. TT, loved the SBM video, I gotta find one of those. Looks like it does a fine job. :banghead:
squonk 38,569 #13 Posted January 11, 2011 Some awful nice Roundy Rounds here being used as workers! Love the grader blade and the dualies! My 704 is semi-retired. I got a nice deck on it but it has a strange noise that I haven't figured out so I basically use it as a back-up mower and for shows. I got chains and hope to get a snow plow for it to. I had a shot somewhere of it pulling cart load of spray equipment when I stained my fence. I guess a shot of it's "Maiden Voyage" after Arendtsville will have to do. Cleaverkid 11 #14 Posted January 11, 2011 Nice pics everyone! My 854 has always been a major worker for me. I inherited him from my grandfather and used it all year, mowing and pushing snow. Now that I've also inherited my fathers GT-14, the 854 is just a full-time pusher (snow and dirt), but no pics yet. Supposed to be snow coming today so maybe I can get someone to snap a couple of pics to post tonight. Long live round hoods!!!
312horse 0 #15 Posted January 11, 2011 We get lots of snow here, about 250 mi nw of Detroit , and i use my 312-8 for plowing, it has always done a great job , i do quite a bit of extra plowing ,like plowing the front and back lawn so we can feed the squirrels and birds , i have my blade rigged up so i don,t scuff up the crass , yet it plows right down on the grass , also after spending one winter lifting the blade manually , it now goes up and down with a push of a button ,and it only cost about 80 bucks for that feature but what a arm saver . I also have a 312-8 with a tiller on it ,which also has the electric arm saver, and a 416-8 with a mower . and when the snow gets extra plentiful a jd445 with 2 stage . I have some nice pictures on photo bucket , but after taking several haircuts away from my barber , i just haven,t figured out how to get them on here , or have that line that some folks have that takes you to thier photo bucket .I guess i,m just not savvy enough for that operation
sscotsman 132 #16 Posted January 11, 2011 Geesh, haven't they paid their dues? Put 'em out to stud already. Unless its some super amazing ultra pristine museum quality restoration, IMO *all* tractors should be used! Its what they were made for.. Scot

Indy w h 4 #24 Posted January 12, 2011 Well i guess I'll show off the boy and his 854 doing a little tilling. It's a 854 with a HY-3 and a 8 pinion 8 speed
Ken B 3,116 #25 Posted January 13, 2011 I used this 604 for a few yrs. pushing snow awhile back. Many tractors I have owned have pushed more snow than this old boy, but none tried harder! I heard thru the grapevine recently that round hoods aren't good at pushing snow. I disagree.
