This one fell in my lap today.  It's a little dirty but I think it will clean up nicely.

Didn't like the all gray. Belt guards Rustoleum Regal Red. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Foot rests I use skateboard grip tape, one piece does both sides. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Push snow, sometimes in the dark, added the tail lamps.

I really like the looks of these tractors.  There's one near me for sale on Craigslist, but its been up there a while due to its price.  Its got a replacement motor on it - under powered and looks like it has spent most of its life outside.  He wants $300.  Im shocked by the deals some of you guys have gotten on these things!

Think the driver was short legged? Pedal looks "boosted"? :ROTF:

Late 60's lived in Tulsa for a year. Was building new dorms in Norman. Fun, young, had a blast.

I have come a long way on my Work Horse restoration but still haven't painted the sheet metal. Even though I know for sure that the tractor is a 1984( because I bought it brand new ) I haven't decided if I should paint it the pewter gray which would be correct for that year or the metallic gray from 82-3 tractors. If anyone has any pictures of these colors I would greatly appreciate it. I'm going to try to have it done for the big show but work, being an active volunteer firefighter, and life keep getting in the way! I won't rush it because it has to be damn near perfect when I'm done. Anyone who has seen my C-121 and C-161 knows what I mean. By no means am I trying to brag but I believe if you're going to do it you might as well do it right.

My 16 hp Briggs Work Horse runs great. Never any problems. Knock on wood!!

The 1642 was a barn find. Free to haul away, hadn't been used in ten years.

Owners Mom flipped it. Sent to a dealer for fixing which included a new 48" SD deck.

Cleaned up, new seat, oil, etc., etc., etc. Didn't like the all gray, belt guards are now Regal Red.

Lug bolts gone. Just don't like 'em. Added the Dial-A-Height adjust for plowing. I don't believe the Dial-A-Height was sold with Work Horses.

I know this is an old post but just recently acquired a GT-1600.

What is involved with adding the Dial-A-Height besides the little block and some sheet metal work ?

Piece of cake protect, half hour.

I found the Dial-A-Height on eBay, $20.

Go for it! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Didn't realize some Work Horses are basically cookie cutter lawnmowers. I thought all the Work Horses were Iron tractors just like the Wheel Horse was built but had a Briggs/Tech engine instead of the iron Kohler? Nope!

Today I found two for sale, an LT-1642 & LT-1637, both rough cond.  These things aren't Wheel Horse Tractors so their parts are useless too me even. The decks/implements won't even fit my Wheel Horse tractors because they don't even use the tach-a-matic setup.  Engines, trans differ, on cookie stamp frames I mean everything is different on the LT models. Well' seat pan, steering wheel look same they "might" fit if you can get it off in one piece?..lol

Looking here I now see the GT is a real Wheel Horse tractor with a Briggs/Tech engine and must be all I've seen of these so I thought they all were WH.  Learn something new everyday for sure. Great info here, thanks all!

Here is my 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 that I got for $FR.EE.

All it needed to run was a fuel pump and some love…

I refreshed the whole tractor. There is a thread on here called something like 1984 Work Horse GT-1600 Refresh.

I think it is a great tractor !

I wish WH kept the small fender seat pan like Dons old C-161 has. I dont know what yr they changed its design but I like that smaller seat pan myself.

Absolutely no fan of non metal pans that break so easy after age. :angry-cussingblack:
