dusted800 1 #1 Posted August 20, 2010 just picked up a 74 C160 with the tecumseh engine. the po tells me it had no spark and many of the wires are cut. Does this motor need 12V to make it spark? if so which wire. I spoke to my local dealer and he told me that the coils are no longer available. Are there other tecumseh engines that the coil is the same? Can't find much info on these old engines, any help would be great! thanx. wnk. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Don1977 604 #2 Posted August 21, 2010 The Tecumseh Engines don't have as much fire as a Kohler or Briggs. Check the fire again, I just got a 6 HP Tecumseh that was not suppose to have fire, but it did. We just cleaned the carb. and it runs like a champ. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
