So, I need a way to lift my hitch to a height about 7 inches or so higher than standard height to accommodate my new log splitter. 2" ball A bolt-on solution would be easiest for me. JoeMonag 1 #2 Posted August 6, 2010 Eric, there is a blacksmith in RI who makes a bolt on rig for about $ 50.00. I got one from his e-bay listing, they work great. wallfish 15,911 #3 Posted August 6, 2010 Maybe something like this might work. You'll just need to drill 4 holes into the 1/2" flat bar. cut the threaded rod and ream out the existing hitch's hole. You could probably use a smaller diameter threaded rod but I tend to build heavy. Uses the existing hitch to support the flat bar with the threaded rod so it won't rip out the 3/8 bolts. $.02 worth EDIT-- cut a piece of pipe to fit and use 1/2" threaded rod.
