get out spindle bearings

Recommended Posts

When I removed the axle from the transmission all of the spindles fell out. I have read to pound it out with a socket. I have damaged many things in my life and I need more specific instruction. Is there a ledge or something in the axle housing that it sits on? Can I just pound it out from the inside?

Yes you have to drive it out from the inside. A socket that fits in teh housing but catches the edge of the bearing is a good way. (Of course a bearing driver set and a 20 ton press work pretty good also)

Incidentally they are called needle bearings not spindles...

I use a socket and hammer from the inside. The bearing sticks out a little from the axle...
