mrfixit82852 3 #1 Posted March 7, 2008 Well I decided to build a front scoop rather then go with a full blown FEL. Figure the scoop would work for what I needed it for. I decided to modify my FordLGT154 completely. Replaced the blown K-321 engine with a Briggs Twin Opposing 18hp. Built a complete sub-frame for under the tractor from front to rear. Added Power steering. Modified the front axle beam to except 1 inch spindles along with 3500 pound trailer 5 lug hubs. Added external hydraulic system to fully operate the front scoop and rear grader blade. Went to Ag tires all the way around for better traction and steering when plowing snow. Hope others will enjoy the photos. That is if I add them correctly. Joe

T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,337 #3 Posted March 7, 2008 Joe, That's fantastic work - an awesome job. I like how the scoop can pivot in just more than one plane. Genius.
mrfixit82852 3 #4 Posted March 7, 2008 Joe, That's fantastic work - an awesome job. I like how the scoop can pivot in just more than one plane. Genius. I got the idea from the Superior scoop online. But decide to one up it. I figure the power angle and get into tighter spots when need be. Thanks Joe

mrfixit82852 3 #11 Posted March 7, 2008 WOW!! Joe that looks awsome. Wait till Ian, Mith, and Wes see it. Those guys are big into fabricating. Mike....... Hopefully someone could use the idea. If they do not need a full blown FEL. I figure this has several functions. Can scoop and dump as well as lift the bucket and then plow with it. Thanks Joe
Kelly 1,028 #12 Posted March 8, 2008 Very nice job, clean looking tractor. But I have a couple of questions, on your power steering is it set up so you can steer it when not running? and what did you use for the steering control? a boat orbital valve? I have been thinking of how to put power steering on my FEL tractor I have a few ideas. any help would be great. Kelly

mrfixit82852 3 #15 Posted March 8, 2008 Very nice job, clean looking tractor. But I have a couple of questions, on your power steering is it set up so you can steer it when not running? and what did you use for the steering control? a boat orbital valve? I have been thinking of how to put power steering on my FEL tractor I have a few ideas. any help would be great. Kelly Yes it will steer if the engine is off. Not easy but it will steer. The steering valve is made by "Sauer Danfoss" model OSPM Mini-steering unit. Open center valve. I am running it off of the external hydraulic pump. I first had it hooked into the Eaton11 pump on the Transaxle, but did not like the way it restricted the return flow back to the Eaton11 pump. this valve does not return to center when you let go of the steering wheel. this way you can let go and operate levers while still in a turn. Hope this helps Joe Attached Image
