18HP Puller comes home

Recommended Posts

KeithB

Bought 12 and 18 HP pullers back in Nov from Allan in Mohawk NY, but finally got the 18HP home.

The 18HP OHV Kohler motor is build for pulling and includes a Vogel cam.

Alum wheels front and rear and Firestone double cut tires on the rear.

I may sell the motor and put a 20HP V-twin on it, not decided yet.

I wouldn't Keith as long as there's a 18hp class I'd keep running it. And put a 20 together (I have a CH20 for sale hint hint  ) B)

You say that the 18HP is set up for pulling, could it be used in a garden tractor with no ill effect on it?

They all look nice and tight.

I would think so but it has more compression and uses racing gas, but i would think it would be ok on high test

B) Keith, I was wondering if you run a special belt and are the belt driven tractors at a disadvantage againist a shaft driven tractor. I,d like to build one but it would have to be a horse.

B79 Optibelt just a good quality stock belt, with a 4" front pulley would be the WH belt #7473

no disadvantage to the shaft driven tractors

Hi Randy,

I have started working on the 18HP, building a new hitch/wheelie bar assembly and some clean up and maintenance stuff

Turns the frame and tin work are from a 1971 Workhorse 800, transmission was replaced with a 8 speed/8 pinion.

Keith,

Just wondering if there have been any mods to the 18 OHV head? I saw a really nice modified 18 single a few years back on a guy's tractor from N.C. He named his tractor: "Dr Full Pull".

It was a really pretty tractor (although it was a Cub Cadet), and pulled super nice too with the aftermarket head he had on it.

Nice looking herd you have there.

Ron

it has a Vogel cam, and other work, it is build for pulling, i am not sure all that was done.

The tractor pulled very well for the PO
