solid seat pan

I was under the impression that the solid seat pan was used on the 401. Did WH use both styles of seat on the same year tractors? I see pictures with both styles but curious what would be the correct seat for a 401.

I got one 400 which has a non solid seat pan. And another which could be a 401 but currently it's a 400 that has a solid pan. Not sure. I was told the solid one is original.

According to the 400 and 401 manuals, you are correct. Perforated on 400, and no perimeter holes (solid) on the 401.

But that doesn't mean Wheel Horse didn't run out of one and use the other in the middle of a production run ...

My 400 has a solid seat that has been with it since my dad bought the tractor in 1960. In other words, I know it's original.
