Well as far as I understand it this float is meant to be level when inverted, which as you can see it was far from level. I've adjusted it now so we will see shortly. I'm hoping this is all it was. Back later this afternoon to report.

Cheers

EDIT: Got the picture order the wrong way round, so although it might be obvious, this is after, and the one further down is before.

Okay, so that's all it was. Kind of annoying that it would be so far out when they are meant to be preset, but who cares, it's working as well as it ever has now, so that's great news.

That having been said, I do still need your help. Before I actually use it properly, I want to replace those two gaskets either side of the carb. When I use the parts manual I'm getting a little confused, and would appreciate it if someone could help me. My engine spec is 60137d, as you can confirm from the attachment below.

If I look up the group, 5, it says variant 55 for my spec, 60137. If I then go to page 20, the page referenced, the air filter gasket is clearly what I have (existing old one), part number 12, 275341, and variant 55 is correctly listed against that, but if I then look for the gasket on the engine side, I have (existing old one) part number 2, 47 049 01, whilst variant 55 suggests I need part number 3, 271030, which is different in that it has a vertical slot.

How do I know which is correct. Bear in mind it could have been wrongly changed in the past, when my father had it serviced, and that includes the whole carb, so the one I've taken off might not have been original either, though it did still have some red paint on it. The new carb I've fitted is practically identical to the one I've taken off, except that this one works, lol.

Does it even matter, and what is the purpose of the vertical slot?

Thanks in advance if you have any ideas.

Cheers
