Save Old Iron

I bet you could weld a bolt to my ass if I could stand the heat!!!

That's something you don't see everyday.

I'll send you $20 via paypal if you get a video of that !!

Kind of a cool way to hold all the screws while I blast them and then paint.

Very nice and great looking job, You make it look too easy. I've been following this thread and loving the pic's and all the effort you're putting in to it. I would be afraid when you're done its too nice to use as a worker.

I did want to comment on the tires you were thinking of getting, (if you haven't already). What I didn't like about them they slip or spin too easily in the grass if you have any inclines in the yard or ditch line to mow.

I like a more aggressive turf to keep from sliding, but that's for me. :WRS:

I take it you're in to woodworking as well with the saws in the back ground. Gotta love the Dewalt miter saw :banghead: I want a stand like you got for it. I keep saying I'm going to build a nice stand but I'm thinking better to have one I can move around easier.

Keep up the good work and pictures!

What tires do you recommend I haven't ordered them yet.

Looks Awesome,

I would pick up a can of oven cleaner and spray the block with that and it will take all of the tough grime off.

I have better traction with the standard turf savers, or even better the comercial turf saver (Carlisle or Duro).

By looking at your first few pic's, it looks much like the old one you had on your tractor, on the pto side.

Their a turf saver but still have a good bite than the other. But that's just my opinion

I think they look better on the tractors, but for even better grip you could always put some ags on her.

But whichever you choose she'll look good no matter what. You're doing an excellent job.

All of these comments are great, I just started taking apart my 1986 312-A. My biggest concern was the rear end / Eaton pump, took it apart and everything looks great, going to work on mine in the same order as you did. Get the rear end painted and put to the side, then start on the front end and rails.

By the way, my wife doesnt understand either. I have a Deere RX-73 that I fixed up, I have to incrementally spend money. I think once she sees how good the painted parts look, I will be fine.

I have the same tire on one of my 520's, they work great mowing on slopes! Better than the ones the 520's normally come with, a little stiffer.
