~ETC~ 0 #3 Posted December 30, 2009 what kind of results do you want? more power? more rpms? ulmra sites have tons of info just search ulmra or us lawn mower racing association find a forum ans ask how and what you can do in your garage to build a more powerful engine than what its rated . i would link all the stuff but i now realize that is all on my laptop and the power cord for it is missing so i haven't any way to charge it up. baerpath 517 #4 Posted December 30, 2009 Chuck and Virginia at Vogels can make you a cam for it http://www.vogelmanufacturing.com/index1.html For the flat head there's not as much as for a V in the Briggs http://www.performancevtwins.com/ They might have some thoughts too We made a stainless two into one stack for ours and used a 18hp carb and plastic riser on the carb. Next step was to hone the intake, our airdraw will frost the tubes on a 80 degree day. Duane
W9JAB 156 #5 Posted December 30, 2009 I just made manifolds to run 2 carbs. I'm going to bore and put bigger valves in Good luck on the twin carb set up , I never had good luck with mulit-carbs balancing has always been an issue. I have always felt that one big carb was better. As far as beefing up a motor, You will get the most bang for the buck by, first a stroke on the rod/flywheel, next a bigger carb, last a cam. I have found that larger pistons, and valves make little difference, and don't do much until you get to the high end of the rpm range.
chris11 184 #6 Posted December 30, 2009 Duane thanks for the links. The engine was free and i have two of them. so ill play. as far as the carbs balancing them is not a problem. ever race car in my shop has webbers on them. The fun part is making the parts.
