HankB 16 #2 Posted December 8, 2009 Hopefully you'll get a batter answer than mine. Spark plugs? (probably not 'cause you've probably already replaced them...) Fuel system? Carb? Time to go through it? Are there any places where air can leak in between the carb and engine? Loose manifold connection? Vacuum hose? Do these have a crankcase breather? Air leaks here dilute the air/fuel mix and can lead to surging and hard starting. best, hank
Rideawaysenior 25 #3 Posted December 8, 2009 Sounds like a dirty carb to me.
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,034 #4 Posted December 8, 2009 If you have not run it since summer and left the fuel (even a few weeks) it can clog up the carb passages and you will need to clean it. They are more complicated than the kohlers so be sure to remember how you took it off. The top comes off and the bottom stays attached. Good luck-
truckin88 104 #5 Posted December 8, 2009 Before you take apart the carb watch the throttle on the carb and the governer spring, see what is going on....when it is running and when you hear the surge.
