truckin88 104 #3 Posted November 15, 2009 I have no idea and no experience with round hoods, does it look like a good restore project, my father in law and I want to do a round hood for fun. I just like the lines. Ricky I was just doign comparatives to pics in the gallery
Gene_S 93 #4 Posted November 15, 2009 I'd say 400 also because of the location of the throttle controls. 401 would of been push pull where that one should have levers. I Believe... Gene
wallfish 15,918 #5 Posted November 15, 2009 I would agree with a 400. Throttle/ choke contol location in the hood, foot rests and pedals. That's a pretty good tractor to start with, it has the "tougher to find" parts already there except for the controls.
bell 11 #6 Posted November 15, 2009 Definately a 400 Suburban... NICE looking one also! :notworthy:
DMESS 24 #7 Posted November 15, 2009 It's a 400 and potentially an early one based on that belt guard. Anyone take notice to the fact that it ISN'T like the usual '60-'61 guard? This is the odd ball guard that is sort of in between the RJ style and typical Suburban style. Is there a snow plow with it? The pedal is there and the lift arm is as well. IMO, that tractor is in fantastic condition and damn near worth leaving as is. Buy it or send it my way, LOL.
plowmaster 0 #8 Posted November 15, 2009 quick question on the front x....were they used on other branded lawn tractors? reason im asking is i have what looks to be the same front on something in the woods, however the frame is completley different. trying not to jack this thread...just a quick question. thats a nice specimen btw. Suburban 550 28 #9 Posted November 15, 2009 400 Suburban by the location of the throttle and choke levers. Nice one. :notworthy:
pond195520032003 27 #10 Posted November 15, 2009 guess i will add my 2-3/4 cents and say 400 :notworthy:
rwilson 128 #11 Posted November 15, 2009 Id say it is one of the first 1960 400 suburbans built, unless the beltguard is from a different tractor?
