The Johnny Cash tractor

Suburban 550

Jon, you've got to be one of the fastest I know when it comes to tearin' them apart and puttin' them back together. Looks good with your personal touch added. :notworthy:

Jim... :notworthy:

Thanks fellas! I'm Definately in love with it!

It is done... with the exception of the hood.

Went and bought some stainless allen head bolts for the recoil...

Installed and wired up the kill switch... Put in the throttle cable and a "dummy" choke cable. The original M8 choke control is on the front of the engine. Me thinks this is the perfect place for it, being a recoil start only.

Lastly, I finished up the exhaust...

Thanks Scott!

I had a little run in with the hood. I stayed up until 1:00 this morning... hammering, dollying and filling. Got the hood looking pretty good and put on a couple coats of high build primer to cure overnight.

johnnycash_046.jpg

This morning, I went out and sanded the primer and painted it. I had the hood on top of a metal trash can by the woodstove. I finished all the "little stuff" on the tractor and went to the gas station to get some fuel. When I came back, I walked into the garage and my heart stopped. MY HOOD WAS GONE!!! :WRS: I looked on the floor by the trash can and there it layed. :notworthy: It suffered a couple small dings and scuffed some of the paint off. I sanded it and touched up the paint. At a later date, I will pull the hood and redo it.

Anyhoo... here she is!

Hopefully, the hood decals and the shift pattern decal will be here tomorrow.

That's all for now! JB

Sweet machine. Are both gas tanks functional? Are you leaving them both in there?

Thanks fellas!

Both tanks will be staying, although the engine mounted tank will be the only functional one. I left the hole in the lawn ranger section of the hood and (as soon as I find the right piece of molded hose) I will be making a extention so it will have 2 gas caps in true psychobilly horse form.... :notworthy:

WH1045, I have never seen a chrome round hood... that might be cool. You better get busy!

Scott, no time for being worn out... Time to start on the next one. (after I work all weekend... :notworthy: )

The decals came today. I still haven't figured out what to put on the belt guard, but I'm thinking about "Psychobilly Horse"

Thanks again Vinylguy!

Well, there's a 4hp (k91), a 6hp (k141), three 7hp (k161) and two 8hp (k181) engines under the bench. Needing one? I'm not really looking to sell any, but you never know.

It's good to see you "express yourself" with the tractor. Just the right amount of red to make it "pop".

Looks great!! B)
