Recommended Posts

I'm restoring my 1985 312-8 and was wondering if you guys had any tips on mounting new tires without scratching the rims. Thanks

Mount the tires first but don't fill them till you paint the wheel just take some paper and cover the tire :scratchead: I love your avatar :hide:

Paint your wheels, allow them to dry fully, depending on the paint you use I'd say at least a week, then with new tires, take dish soap put some on your hand then wipe the bead of the tire with it, most of the time the tires will slide right on with out using any tools, then wipe the soap off the tire, leave a little to help the tire seat (slide) on the bead set air pressure then wash, no soap needed. I've done many that way
