c 121

I have a 121 with kohler.replaced coil off running tractor.points are new.if you remove points cover they are only sparking intermintely,have any ideas?? could it be voltage regulator?? thanks :thumbs2:

Not the voltage regulator.

Put a test lamp or voltmeter from the non-points side of the coil to ground. This should be on, even when the points are closed (it may get dimmer when the point close).

Run the engine and watch the light. If, when the engine stalls it goes off that mean a bad wire from the Ignition switch, or possibly a bad wire to the ignition switch from the battery.

Also check your ground from the (-) side of the battery.

:thumbs2: thanks for the info.I tested everything and tested good.so I took ohm meter started moving wires,and the coil to points wire must have had a short,the ohm meter would come and go.replaced wire started up.thanks,again!!
