  1. Looking at a 416-8

Welcome to RS! I have a 416-8 and it's a worker... Hope it don't take much to get her running.... Don't be afraid of the Onan... I'm not... Just keep it maintained and oil changes and grass off the flywheel cover, you should be good to go... I also have a 310-8 for mowing duty at the rental. I like my 416 better mainly the better ride with the 12" and 8" tires over the 10" and 6" and the bigger streering wheel... Like I said hope it's a easy fix.... Then Work it!! 2. It's not Red - but it's not Green either!

Like them simplicity's... My Grandma had a Sunstar (big beast) after my uncle retired the Cub 149 from mowing duty on near 2 acre. The only thing I dis-like on them is the left side discharge, you have to remember to trim on the right side when you mow..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. 312-8 Guidance requested

I have a 310-8, and I would do all of that with mine, just give her a good look-see.... If you get it, this is the place to get good advice on how to fix it! Welcome to RS!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Bought another horse!

I would just pressure wash the whole tractor, grease/lube everything, can't see the pulleys with the belt guard on anyways.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Bought another horse!

Take it for a spin tomorrow after it dries, if it still does it, check key ways on hubs and pulley on trans..... But sounds like a wet belt to me..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. 310-8 think it lost spark...

  8. 310-8 think it lost spark...

Thanks Garry...... Well has spark, dropped bowl off carb, empty. Install aftermarket pump ($80/$152oem) nothing.... Splashed some in carb, ran till splash was gone..... Instructions didn't say anything about prime pump..... Lost...., why won't new pump get gas into carb? Do not think gas line is bad, gas flowing from tank. Any suggestions please..... 9. 310-8 think it lost spark...

Drove it on truck last Saturday (running) and drove off truck and parked in garage for 2 days before I fixed the brake shaft seal that was leaking like crazy.... Replaced seal, leveled off the tranny, fired her up to give it a test run, it ran for about 4min before it lost power/died as I adjust throttle, give some choke to try and keep it running, I look at the exhaust and watch a lil bit of black smoke exit as the enging quit, ( not a big smoke, just enough to notice). Ok... Push it back in garage after cranking it for a couple times.... No go. Got a little bit of time to tinker with it, put a new plug in it, no go. Checked fuel pump, working good. The battery is charged, never cranked it too hard trying to start it, I did put charger on it the previous night. So... I have a test light and a little multi meter.... What do I start checking first..... Thanks.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. My New 310-8

I forgot to mention, I think they did come with a gage on the gas cap.... How I know is on mine, the clear part is cracked and leaks bad when tank is more than half full, and the rubber float if still in the tank I noticed before I last mowed there last fall, now to figure out if all the bottom pieces from the gage are in the tank also. I did get a new used regular cap from Kelly I have to take over yet and install..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. My New 310-8

Racinbob, the deck is sorta cocked at an angle, so sitting on the tractor the left side would hit the front tire turning is what I have read. This pic is off google, so I didn't have to go across town to the rental to get a pic to show.... So if you imagine the tractor on the hanger, you can see the deck is sorta cocked..... 12. My New 310-8

I got a 310-8 for mowing duty at the rental. This will be my second year with it.... Very happy with it.... I do enjoy the smoother ride with my 416-8 than the 310-8 with the smaller tires. My back can tell a difference. The only reason I haven't gone bigger tires is because the 37" deck cuts great and leaves a nice finish look.... And going to a bigger deck for bigger tires would only take away seat time on it.... lol..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Tax return wheel horse?

Yep.... I set some back so I can assemble a dedicated "snow chucker" for next year. With the snow we had these past 2 winters, I have ran out of room to push it with the 416-8, I clear a lot of sidewalks in my hood for the kids to get to bus stops and home. I have it narrowed down to 3 choices.... 1- I like the small-ness of a lawn ranger ( summer storage) 2- a black hood with hydro lift. 3- a no name with a Kohler with attach o matic. (Maybe hydro also...), don't know.... We will see what CL has to offer this spring....... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Meh.... I beat the crap out of my 416-8 plowing snow these past 2 winters.... I'm not worried, haven't broke nothing yet, and 3 hi ramming speed to push the pile an extra foot back is fun!! Besides I'm an hour south of Kelly for parts and less an hour from Mike Biser for tranny parts, best of both worlds for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Plow and snowblower hooked up and ready to go.

7"-12" forecasted in Indiana..... Better put my chains on the 416-8. Plowed 3 times without them ( enjoying the smooth ride) this year.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
