  1. Removing paint

Thanks everyone for the great tips. New at this and don't want to do anything that will end up costing more down the road.
  2. I have a 854 that has the 2 piece gas tank. I believe it's made of aluminum. What is the best way to remove the paint? It looks very rough as it is. I have the inside clean.
  3. Thx everyone for the tips in removing the steering wheel. Borrowed a bearing separator fro auto Zone as was suggested and it came right off.

  4. Kohler 181 rod

When tearing mine down, the dipper seems to have had a 2 piece sleeve pinned to it. Found it in the bottom of the oil pan. Has anyone ever seen this?
  5. Thanks everyone for the tips. The pin came out easily. The problem is removing the wheel from the shaft. I’ve had it soaking for about 2 weeks. I’ll give it another shot today and see if it’s ready to let go. This was a open shed find and rust definitely found a home on it.
  6. I dont have access to a hydraulic press. I noticed what looks like a round split retaining ring. not sure if that has anything to do with the steering whell or the steering rod.
  7. Have had PB Blaster sitting in the cup for a week and tried a puller but no success. I don't want to damage original wheel if I can help it.
