  1. Please help identify what model this is

Looks like a 701 to me
  2. Raider 14

Looks like a good project Tommy. I'm so envious of your garage set up!
  3. Today's score

I'm no expert but it looks like a 701 to me. No slats in front hood and those footrest are unique to that year.
  4. I was watching it too. It was listed on Craigslist in Altoona, PA a couple weeks ago for around $90 and didn't last long. That was a pretty good flip!

    I got another 701, it's a parts machine. Serial No. 54100
  6. My 701 came with the dozer blade that seems to be fairly difficult to find. Since my kids and I were having so much fun driving the 701 around I decided to get my feet wet with restoring the blade first. It was in pretty rough shape as you can see. All of the metal had severe pitting. My first idea was to strip it and use primer filler and rattle can paint. I spent about 4 hours wire wheeling the frame rails. Through trial and error this seems to be the most effective method to remove the paint and rust. I had the frame rails stripped and I realized that unless I had it sand blasted that I was never going to be able to get into all of the nooks to remove the rust. I made the decision to take it to a shop to have it sand blasted and powder coated. I decided on powder coating for its tough finish. The only downside is that the pitting is visible through the finish. While I've spent much more on it than I wanted to, I love how it has turned out. I ordered all new 316 grade stainless hardware from fastenal. I got the parts back today and put it back together this afternoon. The last piece I need to get is the wear plate for blade and it will be finished.

    Mine is 57673.
  8. New guy in Virginia

Hello, my name is Dustin and I live in Henrico, Virginia which is right outside of Richmond. I've been lurking on the Red Square forum learning all I can for about the past year. I'm a city slicker that doesn't even have a yard big enough for a riding mower but for some reason I've been interested in restoring an older Wheelhorse for some time. I finally bought a 701 about a month ago for a restoration project. I'm in the process of getting all the parts that I need before I tear it down. I've been very impressed with how friendly and willingness to help the Red Square community has been. I've especially got to thank racinbob and limited12 for hauling my 701 from Florida to the big show and from the big show to me. Thank you both so much!
