As this is now a completed project I thought I’d post a picture up in this section. (More pics in Restoration’s under ‘Something different’).

Warning: picture heavy post. So here it is, my version of a wheel horse loading shovel, many thanks again to Ewan and Mark for supplying the decals. As this was an ‘Industrial’ type of build I went for a different variation on red and off white and was pleased with the result. Because the unit is reversed and has a new shorter bonnet I thought the rear fender decals would be a good fit. After it’s own photo shoot, a couple of stablemates joined in. Hope you like.

Went to the portage show where i met alot of great people this 603 i got for a fair deal yeah its got the original engine the techy i know its not a great motor i herd it all weekend but starts first pull and with the carb tune i gave it when i got home and some bolts where loose on the carb and throttle on carb side was bent to where i couldnt move the throttle linkage but where in business and runs like a top. The patina is what really caught my eye and its my first big round hood nice oil down or what ever you guys think some front orginail tires and correct foot rest and a Chinese back up carb or 2 to be safe and we are good to go!

Thanks chaps for your nice comments, to answer your question Sparky it’s definitely for work! I have a lot of horse poop stacked by our stables that I loaded by hand once, never again! Straight after that experience I started planning my loader, I’ve got a fair sized garden and I’m not getting younger so I see a very useful future for it.

So Sunday is never as good as Saturday. I think about 30% of the vendors only do Saturday. But it was the only day I could go. Didn’t bother hauling a tractor, just walked the grounds. Not much for WH stuff for sale, couple mower deck belt guards, hood and one round hood (702 maybe?) that may or may not have been for sale. Nobody to ask. Watched some tractor pulling till the heat started getting to me. Picked up a few inline fuel filters and of course the obligatory sausage/peppers/onions sandwich

I had a play this afternoon, went looking for something heavy to pick up Yep it’s my lawn roller, 36”x18” it’s full of water, don’t know what it weighs, made no difference. No counter weight No wheel weight No ballast No driver !! I’ll get a video up soon.

Hey guys, my wife has always had a fettish for the wood panel side station wagons. I found out about the Buick roadmaster estate wagons of the mid 1990’s about ten years ago. Most of them came from the factory fully loaded with options. What made them very interesting is that they had the drivetrain from the Corvette including the 260hp LT1 motor. I found this one locally with 123,000 miles. Stock other than the hood, wheels, and exhaust. Comes with factory wheels and tires. it has a couple of small surface rust patches but overall seems to be in great shape. Question: have any of you ever owned one or know someone close to you that had one? Just wanting to know how reliable they are and what problems you have had if any?

And the garden tractor mafia didn’t disappoint!!! @Achto is driving and @WHX20 looks like he’s checking the activity on Redsquare

Back on Friday I spent several hours working on the tractor. Got the starter all cleaned up and repainted. Just a bunch of other general busy work. I got the adapter plate finished up. I ended up purchasing a piece of 1/8 inch thick steel from a local fabricator. Marked out 6 holes and drilled them. Oddly enough, I am actually able to use two of the holes that were in the Wheelhorse frame and very nearly line up with the engine that we are putting on. It's only off by about a 16th of an inch front to back and I think I can make up for that because the new engine has 5/16 bolts and the old one had 3/8 bolts. I'll know when we go to fire it up and see if it wants to walk away because the belt might be just a tiny bit too tight. Two holes in the frame go through the other side of the adapter plate. The other two holes in the engine go through the adapter plate between the frame rails because this engine is substantially narrower. Spent some time this afternoon adapting where the battery and the gas tank are going to go for this setup. I'm actually moving the battery tray up to where the gas tank used to be and installing a gas tank in the steering tower tray that I had purchased for a different tractor. That gas tank came out of a 1969 charger. This is why the battery got moved to where the gas tank used to be. Starter all masked off and cleaned up ready for paint. Abracadabra! This is where I'm at with it right now. My honey painted the strap for the gas tank tonight. Pretty likely that tomorrow she can install that and we'll see what else we can get done. We have three evenings left before the Owls Head transportation show. Fingers crossed!

@pullstart I fell in love with the gt14 when I saw Aldon’s restomod build. Just something cool about those tractors. I also like the 953/1054. The only thing about those I don’t like is the way the rear fender pan in those models is all one piece and part of the frame. I am working on that issue with Karen’s tractor. Ill figure something out. One thing is for sure, if you are toting one of those things home next year, you better bring a trailer.

Not true! I did offer to buy you this which a vendor had for sale and if ya had a “flare-up” at the show you would be prepared

Hi all. May not be the most attractive on the lot, but certainly has an incredible back story. Thanks to fellow contributors, I finally replaced the 40 year old seat, got a much awaited throttle lever and added some ‘faux’ tail lights for effect. Hopefully soon, I’ll find an affordable and newer Horse with some more Umph than 8 HP and a wider deck. This guy I have deserves summers off!

Weather was great and there was a good mix of tractors and engines including a few . This little Lawn Ranger was sold before they got it off the trailer. This C-81 had the hard to find Pizza warmer option! Love these barbed wire spark plug wires.

New seat for the old Wheel Horse, a great reproduction from Bob Ellison. Was looking to put a new seat on my 1054, have been sitting on an old kitchen chair cushion all these years due to a flat seat. It is great to keep it looking as close to original as possible. Thanks again Bob, great job!

We had a great time in spite of a couple of bursts of rain that lasted for around 15 minutes but it was mostly overcast which kept the nasty temps at bay until mid afternoon before the sun broke through. Richie—there were a whole bunch of the 1967-72 GM trucks there this year! It seems that that segment is growing more every year. Two wheel drive, four wheel drive, slammed to the ground, jacked to the sky, bone stock original, custom to the max, perfectly preserved patina, trailer Queen only paint, and the list could go on. I remember when a guy would only see a couple out of the thousands of vehicles there, yesterday we must’ve seen at least 50 of them! Mom came through by texting me some great pics which I’ll share here... I love this three generation pic of Dad, me, and Caleb! We are standing next to the actual car once owned by Reggie White and used in the film “Reggie’s Prayer”. Mom bought me an IH motor trucks hat and when we saw this one I had to get my pic taken by it wearing my new hat! Mom got an opportunity to meet a blast from her past—Eddie Munster! He was there by a clone of the Munstermobile signing autographs. Mom watched those shows as a kid! After one of the rain storms, we got out the shammies and were drying off the cars. I had forgotten how many little leak areas I have on the Goat diverting water into the trunk goes to show one of the reasons why I generally only drive it when the weather is good. Anyway, I was reflecting on how cool it was that dad, mom, Caleb, cousin paul and his friend Jolene could be there with cars to participate and not just spectate. The first 10 years that we went to the show only as spectators until 2001 when we showed my car and mom’s red and LeMans for the first time. I was talking with dad about it while we were working when I noticed this young lady had made several laps around my car. Then she stopped to ask me about it. That is when I noticed the cameraman. Turns out she works for a variety of muscle car rags and even internet and tv stuff and she is interested in doing a piece on the old Goat! I find that fascinating because the car is special to me and my family but isn’t that great compared to many cars there—condition wise, option wise, originality wise, etc. So, we exchanged contact info and we will see what comes of it. One of the highlights of the Day was to see the Fonz (Henry Winkler) in person! He was there signing autographs and hanging out with the folks— All in all a fun day and I feel honored and privileged to share it with my family and my RS wheel horse family too...

Hi l have recently bought an old wheel horse commando 7.The plan was to turn it into a miniature Massey Ferguson 135 for my grandson's to take to the shows that we attend with my Bedford TK and McCormach International tractor.I'm now having 2nd thoughts as l think what l have might be pretty scarce over here with the 3 point linkage and the roller cutting deck.Could anyone enlighten me as to the approx year and rarity (there are no plates except engine plate) I would then restore this one rather than start chopping it about. Cheers Tommy

I also like the looks of a roadmaster i really thought about buying one but its kinda to new to do anything with..you can make a real "sleeper" out of one just go on youtube all kinda of burn outs and donuts for days with these! I like the hood on it ,wheels not so much, 123k isnt bad for a 20 plus year old car. But ill say buy it clark would be a blast they make tons of aftermarket suspension for them to prevent body roll ect. And odviously the lt1 is a Corvette motor could make it haul the mail!

That is one of the best conversations on a tractor I've ever seen. Plus it even more stable like that then a d200 with a loader on the front. Great job Farmer

Kevin—the “Big Wheels” are very cool and unique tractors within the Garden Tractor Community. Case had the 400 and 600 series with 16” and 15” rims. Wheel horse has the 953/1054, GT-14, and the C195 with the 15” and 16” rims. They also had larger wheels on some of the D’s. Other than that, most GT’s were on 12” rear wheels. It makes them different from most tractors available by the various manufacturers. The riding position of a BW GT is really cool IMHO. The neat thing is that you can study them over, decide which you would like to own and pursue buying one. If you decide on a specific model, then keep your Eyes open—one will show up at a time you least expect it!

Welcome to Redsqure I also have a c160 and you will have to check #1 spark #2 fuel #3 compression The first thing I check is spark. Pull the plug and turn the key on to see if it's gitting the plug to spark.then replace the plug if it's ok.pull the gas line off at the carburetor, turn the key to start and see if gas is flowing out and if so pour a little gas into the carb to see if it will try to start if it try's to start then it's fuel related. Also if it sat for a long time check the fuel tank shutoff valve it has a small filter in it that may be pluged . Check the wiring and the safety switchs one is for the pto and the other is the foot pedal. You can bypass the switchs with a jumper to see if its at fault. Here's a diagram

Thanks Guys once again for all the input, stories and pics...I am happy to share these experiences with you as long as you want to enjoy them with us. @Sparky saw this truck as I was driving by our local auto shop. Jerry has been an auto mechanic in our town for better than 30 years. He finally started building his own dream truck a few years back. It isn’t finished yet but it is a beauty... Custom touches everywhere yet understated color and wheels... Tubbed, custom suspension, fuel cell, auto tranny with overdrive, Great example of a Shark Nose Pickup and still has a hitch to pull his vintage car when he wants to...

Getting set up..don't look like much now ... @Lane Ranger is here with a full crew and I forget his handle but he is from MI and has got a really wild 701 ...you guys ain't gonna believe his paint job! Your have never seen a horse lIke this not to mention the rest of his herd!...pics coming. Met David from Arkansas @new2horses ....he was riding another brand . Told me he had an RJ35 and a C with a Haban in the auction so can't be all that bad! I asked him why he was selling such nice tractors.... said he had too many. What a problem to have! Be back in the AM for round two. Dale stole the Rat Rod for a quick ride. Saddle up! We errantly started setting up in the flea market area and had to move! Hotter that haites tho... we sweated our gonads off just getting unloaded and some of us couldn't cool down with an adull beverage due to pending windshield time...Rest of the weekend looking the same but thankfully cools down at night.

Things that are different are not the same... While at the BS I bought a set of AG’s on custom rims from @Aldon. The setback is similar to a WH setback. The rims pictured above are Cub rims and the setback pushes the tires too close to the inner fenders for my liking... The interesting thing is that both tires are Carlisle Tru Powers. Both are sized at 23-10.50-15 and yet look at the difference. This one is from Aldon and is listed as a AT. My existing tire just says “Tru Power”. Regardless, I’m very pleased with the look of the finished product, hopefully it will function as good as it looks in the field! Zach got to drive it around the yard for the first time and was lovin’ It! I like the extra clearance to the inner fenders if the plowing gets laden with bean stubble or a little muck my fenders should stay much cleaner. I’ve been at several Big fall plow days where I had to fish out all the debris packed in the furrow wheel fenderwell because the clearance was just too close. Not anymore!
