520 has according to the hour meter over 3000 hours but runs and drives well. Some play in the steering but otherwise good. Maybe hour meter is not working properly. 312 has just 212 hours and is very tight. Does not currently run. I have not gone through either of these yet as I just got them home. I work this weekend so hopefully I will know more next week. 520 has the 42" deck from the 312 on it. It looks to be OK but I need to clean it up to tell for sure. It sure does not fit the 520 properly and it will go back onto the 312. I don't know how it sounds, I never engaged it. I also got another 42" deck thrown in that supposedly was on the 520 but it should not have fit well either (sitting on the floor in front of the 312). That one is quite rusty but all other parts are good and spins nicely. I picked this package up for $600 Canadian (around $450.00 US). Didn't need them but they were just a couple of miles up the road. Cleat

We have a summer touring college group in for a couple of days to do interact with our church youth group. I asked their director/chaperone (a long time friend) if they would like to go shooting yesterday. They did. We had a great time. There were 8 young ladies and 3 young men. Some of them had grown up around guns and were accomplished shooters in their own right. Several had never fired a gun. So, after some safety instructions, we spent time one on one down range shooting 22’s, 9mm, 45’s, 223’s, etc. I had brought along my cousin’s big 50 BMG single shot for anyone crazy enough to give it a try. All three guys were in and surprisingly three of the girls. I let everyone watch me shoot it before so they could see its powerful effects on my 180 lb frame. It blew my baseball cap off which was an unexpected but perfect touch. This young lady maybe weighed 95 lbs but she was insistent on trying it... She wasn’t hurt but definitely has a new respect for the Fiddy Cal! If you watch closely the effect on the ground/weeds on both sides of the muzzle brake—amazing! 750 grain FMJ bullet behind 240 grains of H50 powder equates to about 10,000 lbs of muzzle energy! Beastly!

Your right! It can’t be done! I’m 2/3rds thru this bag...it’s going to stay in my overhead cabinet in my office for the weekend. That’ll give me a reason to show up for work next Monday.

I know we all use different weather forecasting sources, this is the one I use... http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USPA0131 It’s a bit far out, but right now the forecast is looking like NO RAIN for this years show!! Lets hope the weather guessers have it right

I bought my Wheel Horse new around 83, and did whatever I could every year to keep it going. This year, grass was growing fast and I had no time to replace a spindle, so I bought a new Cub Cadet to hold us over. I appreciate my old friend even more after the $2000 cheaply made plastic toy that I'm hoping will hold up to our yard even a year or two. Found a spindle, got it on, good to go. There is nothing like an old Wheel Horse.

Looks like Stevebo's all excited and ready to go. Not much room on there for a big shopping spree so it looks like there could be some leftovers this year. Load and go as usual for me. I did get the replacement engine running last night so hope to get everything done by the end of the weekend.

Dad bought a brand new 604 in 64. I wasn't allowed to run it until 68. My avatar is my first day. We sold it with the house in 77. We went thru 4 Tecky's with that tractor. We had a big yard!

I pick this Ranger up a few years ago with the intention of building something my grandkids can drive when they get a little older. I took it apart a while back (a long while back) and it's been sitting on the shelf. I've gotten rid of the Tecky and the mower deck, I have a K161 pull start Kohler I'm gonna put in it and I'm planning on adding a second clutch pedal so the kids can reach it as well as a set of running board style foot rests to keep their feet out of the back tires. I've also got an 8 speed tranny here so I'm going to see if I can make it fit too. This tractor is gonna get a rattle can paint job, it's just easier with my limited shop space and the kids will likely scratch it up anyway. I took a few parts to get blasted yesterday and got those back today, I think I'm going to mock up the frame, tranny, engine and seat pan before I paint those pieces. I'm going to need to add a 3/4" rod to the frame for the extra pedal and some kind of bracket for the foot rest and probably have to add a mounting tab to the drive belt cover so it'll fit the Kohler. I picked up a set of tires from Miller Tire and have those mounted, at this point I'm still painting the rear rims so I won't inflate those tires until the paint drys.

1991, I was born, grandfather started taking me for rides on his 1987 520H when I was 3 months old. My father had a 1988 312-8 which he used at least an hour a day. Every day. 5 years ago I bought my first, 1991 312-8. Grandfather and father have both passed. I now have all 3. And I'm always looking for more. Took my 4 month old son for his first ride the other day. He likes my tractors, even though his mom doesn't...... edit: Grandfather bought his new, I have the bill of sale some place. he traded in a competitor, got the 520h with snow blower, tiller, and 48" deck. Still paid around $5000. Father bought his from a customer of his for $100 42sd mower and 38" blower. I bought mine for $250 with a 42"sd and "help" spray painted on the hood.

Figured I would start a thread for all of us headed to the big show this year. I started to load up the tractors on the trailer. I was just able to squeeze the trailer in the barn so the machines will be out of the weather until we head out. Post up pictures of your rigs as you start to head out to the big show 2018!!

That is awesome that she gets in there and just goes at it. Good for her! Hope my wife takes interest in the one she wants when I start it. Doubt it. But seeing her on it with a smile will make it worth it. Besides if it’s her tractor, I can’t get in trouble for working on it. 😁

"First" one was 1991 when my Dad bought our 416-8. My 2 yrs older brother and I, not knowing destroyed the tranny. ( lots of shifting hard fro. 2nd to 3rd and vice versa when going down a WAY PLUS 15 degree grade. Still have it. Rebuilt tranny of course

Believe it or not my other 20 year old Bradford Pear got hit by straight line winds close to Father’s Day again but one year later. I was prepared to drag it to the neighbors ravine again and cut the tightly tangled branches into small enough pieces to be able to throw them in the ditch. That’s when my son got the bright idea to use the just finished FEL to push the four large trunks in the ditch. Each was about 25’ long/tall and 12” diameter at the stump. I was a little concerned since I don’t have the leaks fixed yet but it held just fine and did a great job with the heavy tree. My son snuck a video of it in action. 71A613EB-0B75-43FF-97F9-848645A5E48A.mov

When I was 13 (2 years ago) I spent all my money, $500, on my first tractor, a wheel horse c81. I have spent $ 600 on tires, attachments, paints, and other replacement parts. I also have been given a craftsman tractor, an LT1000. I have to get a new engine for that tractor.

My first recollection of loving a was at a lawn and garden show when my dad was looking at a new RJ-35 in '57. I was twelve years old and looking forward to riding around cutting the lawn and cultivating the garden. It was a bit more than dad could afford so he bought a walk behind rototiller and I was walking behind it and the mower; what a letdown. Fast forward to about twenty years ago living in Florida and the wife and I bought a piece of property that was going to need to be mowed and a bit of fill dirt moved. I went to the Florida Flywheelers Show with a friend and found a 1055 with a 36" deck, grader blade and a cart for $ 350, love at first sight. It did everything I could ask and I developed a great deal of respect for the quality product the Ponds had given us. A few months later the same friend was visiting family in Ohio and called me about a 953 that was part of an estate sale up there. At the time I had no idea what a 953 looked like, but took his word that it was cool. It wasn't running but the price was right ( $ 200 with a deck) so I bought it sight unseen and he delivered it a couple days later. Had no spark so I cleaned the points, still no spark, took the coil from the 1055 and the 953 fired right up and ran fine. I have added a few to the herd since then including the '57 RJ-35 I never got as a boy, it is a project. I have also added several more 953s, a GT-14 with loader,310-8, 418-C, and a couple '58 RJ projects. That first 953 is as found without any paint to speak of and I have no intention of changing a thing. The 1055 has been my go to snow plow machine for the past dozen years but it may get a fresh coat of paint some day.

My Dad owned Wheel Horses, so I grew up with them (see the Vintage Pics thread). The first of my very own was a 68 Commando 8 I got from my uncle around 1993. I don't even remember what I paid him for it. Had to overhaul it.

Not that I have a long way to go (35 miles), but I just started getting things ready to go. Daughter and family are moving and my trailer has been MIA for awhile. The weather has been miserable with rain almost every day for the last month. On top of that, I have has two serious bouts of pollen-induced bronchitis. I'm finally on the mend and now it's time to see whether anything in the shed will start and run. @stevebo I know you have a big load, but don't forget my wheel weights. Oops, that was meant for @stevasaurus Lots of brake linings and lug nut kits, plus a delivery for @wheelhorseman again. Seems like everything he buys comes from Maryland See you all real soon.

Here’s my trailer doing a slightly different job right now. I’ll be hauling brush and what-not all weekend....then it’ll be tractor loading time!
