Well, I finally got rid of Christine! It's 5 years and 2 months too late, but it's finally gone! It feels like a new chapter in my life, and helps put at least one of the constant reminders of that day behind me. In it's place, is a truck that I WON'T have to work on. Introducing my 2018 Ram 3500 Limited. I got this truck fully decked out with the 6.7L Cummins Diesel and Aisin transmission. Has the 5th Wheel towing package (just ordered the new hitch), sunroof... well everything! This truck is amazingly beautiful, but I think that I deserve this! I'll post more pictures later, they're on my phone and I'm too exhausted t move them at the moment.

Some other pics.... a pretty cool 551 but the guy sure did whine about how lousy the techy was and how he couldn't find parts. Our camps

She was a ride that's for sure! What saved me is quick thinking by me and the guys who were walking beside. I probably shouldn't have been pulling with this tractor as it doesn't have a solid mount hitch and that's an awful lot of stress on the lift cable & the hitch point was way too high. 2nd go round went much better after I dropped the hitch height back down and a couple of bros to push the front down at take off. Did about a 30 ft run. Pulling was the best part of the show since it was just for fun. There were guys pulling with their "street" tractors and tractors with decks still on and just to see what it will do. I thought Dan's ride was a bit wilder as his front end never touched the ground! At the end we disconnected the weight box from the sled and he had another run. She was a bit squirrely to say the least!

Oh, a backhoe!!!! Boy, would I absolutely love to have a backhoe. You know? If she wants to get another two or three of these for herself. Who am I to argue ?????????

Decided to restore my Mother in Laws 1976 C-160 8 speed. I have never done anything like this before so I will be asking for help from time to time. It has been kept under shed its entire life so everything is in pretty good shape. I haven’t got the engine running yet, waiting on carburetor kit and brushes for starter. I am going to take it down to the frame and repaint undecided what paint to use, I have sprayed lacquer on wood but have never painted metal with anything other than with spray cans.

I'm just kidding. But I thought you guys would get a kick out of this picture. I brought home a parts machine for my C - 160 Resto modification project. Needed a place to put it so... Under the pop up.

We went today to pick a for my honey. '67 657. HH60. Runs and drives great! We are going to use it here on the acreage for moving loads of firewood and also as a secondary tractor when we go down into the forest so that she can tow the splitter and I can tow the wood trailer. Only real issue a big one... Wrong color. She's going to start taking it apart tonight to correct the error of someone else's ways. Mechanically, all it needs is fluid changes to axle and engine and a good tune-up. We would love to have all the information we can about this machine. Like for starters, why is the gas tank mounted to the engine instead of in the steering tower like my B&C series? We are wondering if maybe it is a replacement engine from a snow blower or something else? And, the muffler. Another reason why I think this may be a replacement engine. It points directly to the inside of the hood and nose area blowing carbon all over the place. We definitely want this to be a quiet machine so a straight pipe is out but what can we do or what should be there? Here's some pics.

That is what it was. I meant for it to be 20 but I screwed up when I was making the list. Racinbob gets a deal not gonna go back on it now. Also, just FYI, racinbob auto corrects to Taco Bob 😂

That could have been a very serious or even fatal injury . Thankfully the outcome was a good one Jim ! You never know ? But in light of things I think the look on both of your faces says it all .... OOOOHHH !!!

I had 32 of these 16 x 16 Wheel Horse Crossing signs for the show but I liked them so well that I am keeping one for myself. $15 each

Looks like fun wish I could have been there to see it. Also I am really excited about the big BS coming up This show just got me more excited about heading east and meeting a bunch of you. If any of you don't know I'm getting a 854 and it will be my first round hood and I can't wait to travel with my dad and my local circle buddies out to Pennsylvania to get it

Unfortunately I did not get as much time as I had liked behind the camera over the weekend. There were a lot of GT's there that I would have liked to capture on film. I did take some shots of yesterdays plowing fun. Josh plowing with Ghost Rider.Zach is following close hind so he can inspect Dad's work. Josh was nice & went back for the camera that I had left behind in the field. As long as he was there He got a shot of our work. Today the club brought in an eliminator for the garden tractors to play with. This was not a formal pull, just a bunch of us having fun. @WHX19 was the first one to hook up. I hooked my Raider12 up for a pass. After I was done pulling I passed my draw bar hitch on to @Rp.wh so that he could try giving the eliminator a tug with his Raider12. Between these 3 I believe that Ryan won the bragging rights. This Economy was almost unstoppable. A couple more shots of some of some cool gt pullers. I hooked up my Rat Rod just for laughs also.

The only way that I could steer was to shift my weight side to side on the seat. Being a motor cycle rider for many years, my instinct was to lean in to the direction that I wanted to go. With a GT it is just the opposite, you have to shift your weight away from your intended direction. This would give the rear wheel on the out side of the turn more traction and cause the tractor to turn. My instinct for turning a bike kept taking over making me have to think about what I was doing to try to stay on the track. It was a good learning experience, but I would have to do it a quite a few times before the steering would become natural to me.

The best part is how hard he is cranking the steering wheel while the front tires are two feel in the air!

Looks like the correct engine, but I'm assuming that a previous owner got tired of unscrewing the thumb screws and taking the hood off every time they wanted to check the oil, so hence we have a modification.

Thanks Randy. Not this color for long !! She tore right sideways into disassembling this evening. I helped a bit here 'n there. Here's where we're at:

That is a tough looking Beast Aldon from any angle but especially from that one with those weights! I think that the red looks especially good against the grey. Can’t wait to check this one out in person next week...

You are correct with the single Wheelhorse at startup. Right now we have three, 2 up and running. I'm actually looking at two more. Oh my. What have I started.

Well I was scheduled to fly out west for business after church. Would have been a grueling long day had it actually gone as planned. Instead, I got to airport this afternoon and my flight was cancelled. 4 hours early. Crazy! Chicago is a difficult place to travel through at least it has been for me. good news though for me as I was able to tackle the turning brakes again. And since I was supposedly flying all afternoon, I was able to work uninterrupted. Yea!!! I took pics but other than the rubber grips on the handles, not really easy to see the work I did as it’s under the fenders. I will likely improve on it a bit when I tear down for paint eventually. next project is the jack shaft for the independent hydraulic pump.

It looks as good as when we discussed silver and red while you were working on your plow tractor. Thanks for the consult!

Many of the parts (lift sector, dash tower supports, clutch pedal, screw on dash plate, flat front frame...) and the matching patina of the parts all indicate that your guess of a 1962 model 702 is probably correct, and appears mostly original. A few parts are replacements... steering wheel and seat for example... and I'm curious about the hole in the hood....what's sticking out?

C-171 decals have shown up on eBay many times over the last decades, so they probably made it into some dealer inventories as a "kit" of stuff dealers had to take. There have also been many 512-D decals stateside as well. The tractor in the picture looks to have a steel hood, whereas the C171 would have had the fiberglass hood needed to cram the bigger engine and muffler in. So i'd vote that this was just a replacement decal job. Steve

One of the best overall threads on rebuilding and painting a is the one @JPWH did a couple years back. There was a lot of good information shared and opinions to choose from. Read it over and you will have a PHD in WheelHorseology.

Nice horse! Gonna be a great project as it looks to be in pretty good shape. I myself prefer IH red from the case ih dealer. I just like how it sprays out of my gun and how it holds its shine vs rustoleum. I use rustoleum almond on my wheels and I spray that from a gun too. I've seen regal red paint jobs look ok too so it's up to you. Either way she's gonna look good! Mike

What did I do? Things that this was not meant for but it was fun to put on a show for the crowd. There was a GT pull at a local show that I was at. No serious competition, just a bunch of us having fun. After some heckling from friends I hooked my Rat Rod up for a wheelie show. No long distance pull to brag about but it was still fun.

You will get plenty of armchair support. Especially with thread in restoration section. I’m tagging it so I can follow along. Nice choice for your first one:-) I say first, as the satisfaction and pride you will experience often leads to additional restoration projectS.

Saturday started on the disassembly of the 551. it has an odd history this was an father/son project resto from the 1990s and has been sitting since then. they put alot into it would have thought they would keep it?? it's not horrible but needs attention. Saturday was awesome for painting the flat white had to go, the wheels and seat are now gloss antique/almond. today I pulled all the tins. his paint job was fair I decided to compound and buff first before deciding to stripe and repaint. it came out decent I can live with it. I made a list of what to order this week. then it's time to mess with that lauson/tech engine. keeping my fingers crossed.... seems ok. the guy said it ran fine 20 years ago!

If you are going to show the progress of this project, this thread would be better in the Restorations section. I am going to move it there.. BTW...Welcome to Red Square
