Picked this up at swap meet today. PO said it came out of a Chevrolet dealer in Montana. Never seen one, I'm thinking early 60's. Anybody with any info appreciated.

Today a 516h followed me home. The body work is straight, the paint is shiny, and it has 495 hours on it. But, the fuel line is hard and cracked, but it will run as long as fuel is being dribbled down the carb. The tires are old and hard too. It does have the limp-wristed, metrosexual Eaton 700 as an excuse for a transmission, so it isn’t good for anything other than mowing the lawn, but at least I got a 42” rear discharge deck out of the deal!

Opened up parts including some new lights. Painted my Sickle Bar Mower Front Assembly box cover plate, plain Ted rear hitch pin Cub yellow, painted two sawtooth tires with M. E. Miller tire paint, and changed from wheels on my new RJ tractor! All and all a good day and 65 plus degrees in Greencastle, Indiana today! Relaxing now!

Rolled out my Airborne Commando yesterday http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/74626-airborne-commando-wheel-horse/?tab=comments#comment-718379 Started and ran great. Couple minor things to adjust today and put air cleaner on. Used a cheap Chinese carb that ran well but they never tapped the side holes for the air cleaner bracket. Did that then found the front holes which were tapped are tapped for metric. I have lot of nuts and bolts but no 4/10mm. (Another McMaster order) Other frustration the engine I am using came from a C-81 and has the exhaust nipple that is not threaded on the end. Would love to use the C-81 muffler but it won't fit under a Commando hood and will have to use a pepper pot that needs a threaded end nipple. OK I will pull the nipple that is on there...We all know how much fun that can be. Spent 1 whole week squirting it a few times a day with In-Force BG and whacking it with a hammer. Nothing...spent the next week using PB Blaster no joy. Even after running for almost an hour yesterday still nothing. Finally even the candle wax. nothing. OK maybe put threads on the nipple, dragged out my antique pipe threader...way to big. Sooo guess it is time for the sawzall and chisel. Cut it collapse it the redress the threads In the block. Bought a 1" pipe taps a couple years ago for the same issue. Hopefully that will go well. Now I am going to have a refreshing malted beverage!!!! I’ve posted pics of my spray setup before and I’ve never been happy with it. The sprayer is great but my father-in-laws carryall was too low and too big to spray effectively. It was so low that the spray width was only about 7’ wide when it hit the ground. Needless to say, I had to run at top speed to avoid using way too much product. That was hard on the tractor with all the weight and still applied too much product. To to remedy that I built my own carrier. Now it’s higher and tighter to the tractor and the spray width is almost 14’ wide. I used it last night and it worked much better. Plus, I was able to slow down to 2nd gear Hi range and I used about half the weed killer I used to use while getting good coverage. I plan to use this for other chores too. Time for final paint and it’ll be done.

Tipped a few cold ones myself lane. Got the commando out to the lake. New pulley working great. Greased It up and ready for summer. Got my new hitch from lowell installed and hoping to get a good lawn sweeper for it. Also got all the fresh mulch spread and added lattice to the deck.

Plus the RJ had a nice snowplow with it too!

Here is a meathead for removing exhaust nipples that works every time for me. If you have an air chisel, use it to vibrate the exhaust nipple. A hammer head bit in the chisel will work the best for this. After you have soaked the pipe with penetrating fluid, work around & around the pipe with the air chisel. This vibration will loosen the rust on the threads and you will eventually be able to turn it out with a wrench. My toughest one took about 25 min of vibrating.

My neighbor got a Tri-axle load of composted topsoil mixed with mushroom soil delivered today. The ground was way to soft to use bigger stuff (D200 with FEL) to move it into his garden. So here is his 1076 and my L-107 still working after all these years. Note: i got tired long before the L-107 did... (1966 and 1967 over 100 years of horse)

Progress update: been kind of slow going but I got the battery in, cables routed and a few other odds and ends done. Hope to drop the hood and fenders off to be blasted next week. Need to coat the fuel tank this weekend and then I think I can fire it up.

Recently purchased this commando 800 in pretty darn nice shape all metal is strait, has a brand new Kohler k181 good rubber all around, needs carb rebuilt and some new paint in the future.

For now, after the fuel line is changed, it will probably be going to the in-laws for lawn mowing duty. After that, I do have an old 312h with a cracking frame that has an 1100 to donate....

Looks good, but i have a suggestion for a close match. I bought a set of early jeep choke and throttle cables off of ebay for my 701. I had to put a washer on them to mount them to the dash hole, but otherwise they look spot on.

I recently repaired my HST cam block leak on Wheel Horse 877. The leaks had been getting worse over the last couple of years. Very temperature sensitive at the end. I am 100% certain that my unit has never been apart. I found the small gasket to be an a “standard” O-ring style. The small gasket was very hard. I found the larger gasket to be a "square" O-Ring and not a “standard” O-Ring. The larger O-Ring was sitting in the middle of the “holding” or “positioning” shim when I removed it. The shim is about 0.040” thick. “Square” O-rings gaskets are not rounded on the outer diameter. I am certain that the removed gasket was not shaped to be square from years of installation. It is fairly obvious under microscope. I used a 026 70A (hardness) Square 1-1/4"ID, 1-3/8" OD with 1/16" Width. Thickness is 0.066” for the larger gasket. The .066 thickness allows gasket to extend beyond positioning shim. It appeared that WH wanted this gasket to be square on the outside so that it could be held/sit inside the shim circle opening. Making it easier for installation. Appeared that way to me. I used a 116 70A (hardness) Round ¾” ID, 15/16” OD O-Ring. The “026” and “116” labels are industry labelled sizes. I put it back together with no leaks (fingers crossed). Many thanks to Volfandt and others who have led the charge on this topic. BR JimD

do you have an 18" pipe wrench and a 3 lb. hammer ? did a lot of pipefitting as a millwright, you have the mechanical advantage if you set it up right. that nipple length and schedule will let you get a good solid pipe wrench bite on it. have the wrench sitting up at a 45 angle , that you will drive against with that 3 lb. hammer. do not drive down, on the very end of the wrench, that will bounce and waste your impact drive. the thick start of the pipe wrench taper , just under the barrel screw nut adjuster of the wrench is wear you want to drive your 3 lb. hammer. that very solid impact, on that very solid steel will move that nipple. done it many times, on much worse. that will do it , pete

Once you spend a couple hours pushing snow with a hydro and hydraulic lift you will be a big fan of hydros. The Eaton 1100 is a great unit and at $ 250 you better get over there soon or it will be gone.

From the running boards that style of thick pad is 1996-97 the 95 and older had the thin glue on mats, other than the front axle and lower HP it's just like having a 520H , IMO the Onan has the best power if they're properly maintained but on the same hand the wiring was Toro's downside, but where else are you going to find a comparable L&G today for $250 with a snow plow? and yes the plow will work on the B80 but this way you'll have your dedicatedwinter horse with hydraulic lift and no clutching to find the right gear and the B80 to mow with, just my , Jeff.

Isn’t that picture of a 416-H?? I am guessing 417 was a typo in the original post. Golden, a 417-A is s late 80s tractor with a Kohler engine. What is in the picture would seem to be a mid 90’s tractor with an Onan engine and would be a steal if operating correctly for $250.

The lighting makes the paint look better than it is, I did try to rub it out with polishing compound but is still pretty faded. Still glad to have it makes a nice addition to my 1985 417-8. A friend of mine found it out in Kentucky where he lives and even delivered it to Pa for me, just another example that god is good AMEN.

Picked up two that were owned by three generations of the same family! Grandfather was a farmer that bought the 1958 RJ. Father bought 856 new with snowblade and 36 inch deck! Grandson wanted to redo but is now set to retire in another part of the U. S. 856 did heavy mowing. Nd snow removal duty near Hayward, Wisconsin. I bought both but David and I picked them up this evening. I loved the one family owned story! Grandson is an engineer and rebuilt 856 transmission and had a few new gears made for it!

Thanks. I’m kind of a nut when it comes to the yard. My boys have a lawn business too. Any cheap generic fertilizers will do. This is what I do: Fall: Sept - aerate, K31 overseed, and fertilizer Nov - last mow after frost if possible Spring: Roll lawn at first spring thaw March - fertilizer w/crabgrass prevention April - spray 2,4D for weeds May - fertilizer w/crabgrass prevention Early June - spray 2,4D for weeds July - OPTIONAL grub killer i got away from doing it for a few years because of time and money. Now I use it as an excuse to work the Horses.

Update: Just took the old worn out belt to another Toro dealer. The cross-referenced the 102742 older number to a 94-5401. I asked to see the belt to compare to the old one. Exact fit ! I think I have 3-4 belts labeled 94-2501 that have the packaging mis-labeled.

Very possibly the regulator. Also could be the engine stator that generates current and feed the regulator. There is also a fuse that could be a culprit. There should be 3 wires on the regulator two from the engine and one going to the ignition switch. With engine running check AC voltage cross the two engine wires note it is AC. I do not know spec for B&S engines but you should get upper 20's lower 30 ACV. if you do then the regulator is prime suspect.
