So I’m fond of the Blackhood tractors and this weekend brought in a couple new ones. The C-105 was a trade with a member here. Looks rough but runs real nice. The C-165 was found by my neighbor and he offered it up to me. It runs good but needs a few things (like they all do!) Pics....

....but she runs and drives and has got potential. The good... 2k & some odd hours but engine sounds real strong and starts easily, no smoke and we all know how bullet proof the 1100 is. Sheet metal all strait and rust free. The bad.... none of gauges work, no lights, steering turns tight one direction but wide to the right. The PTO hoop and linkage as well as the pto center trunnion are all missing. Who in their right mind would take it off and lose it? The hoop you gave me Dan is too short but can be modded to work. The tractor came with a nice 48 incher!?! Somebody correct if wrong but was the coil relocated? Not to worry about Mr 9 pin...already been cut out! The ugly... the seat could have easily won my ungly seat contest. The fronts ...no extra charge for the racing slicks seller says! If all goes as planned with the sale of the attachments, a nice deck and a almost NOS plow, this might be a free tractor.

Almost have the heart transplant ready to go.

Well my restoration has almost come to an end. Only thing left is to find a rear work light that I like. Kinda wanted some green grass for the pictures of the finished product but I settled for the white lawn that mother nature has left us. A thanks to @WHX17 for ideas, setting me up with some parts that helped me finish this project, & for the wet sanding help. First a peak under the hood. The Century Fox hydro pump fits very nicely, almost like it was made for the application. Thanks to @wheelhorseman for making the parts to keep these old Hein Werner pumps working as well as the tranny parts that keep our tractors rolling. Thanks also to @Shynon for hooking me up with a better engine shroud. @Vinylguy Did a fantastic job with the decals as always. The dash decal is always a bit challenging for me to lay down, but the end result looks awesome. My steering wheel turned out OK, might keep my eyes out for a different one though. I like to have an hour meter on my tractors for maintenance purposes but didn't want to cut a hole in any of the factory sheet metal. I decided to make a gauge mount for under the seat. The sides of the mount extend down so that the wires don't get damaged by loose items tossed into the tool box. Now a step back to show the whole package. Now I can start thinking about next winters project. I've done two stock...ish restos in a row. I'm thinkin' that it may be time for a custom next winter.

Tomorrow is the first trip with equipment to the new house. One of the advantages of the brand trailer I have (Sure Trac) is that the gate can fold down onto the deck of the trailer. It will be loaded going down but empty returning, With the gate up it feels like I am still towing a parachute. The problem with having the gate down is that the trailer disappears behind my truck. I had bought a pair of 36" snowplow marker guides for the 42" single stage snowthrower a few years ago. They were to help locate the ends when pulling into our side-load garage. But before mounting them I found a shorter pair that worked better. So the longer ones languished on the shelf until today. I had a last minute thought to mount them on the trailer. It should work great.

Saturday April 21, 2018 I put my Wheel Horse mid grader blade on my 603 to take to shows this year! Looks pretty cool if you ask me! Also painted up the tins on an 8 HP Kohler recoil start motor !

Got my garden plowed last weekend with my very nice original new to me plow. Did a great job!

I had some scraps left over from my FEL build and I needed some front weight for my 314-8 for when I have the sprayer on the back. I already had a small receiver hitch for the front so I built a smaller version of the weight rack that I made for the 520. I just need to clean it up and spray a little paint on it. With the two 42 pound weights and the bracket it weighs between 85 and 90 pounds.

A had a chance to plow a couple of gardens yesterday for a member of farmallcubs.com. He has 3 Farmall Cubs (and his dad's 1941 Farmall H) and I asked him last fall if he wouldn't mind if I plow his garden for him. He said yes and I plowed his garden back in October. I asked him again if I could plow his garden this spring and yesterday I plowed his garden and his neighbors using his '48 Cub. I recently picked up a fast hitch and a 194 plow so my '47 Cub will be ready for fall plow day season this fall. Here is me on John's '48 Cub plowing his garden. https://youtu.be/Sh3rHezbOKI

Been working on putting my NOS front deck carrier put together. It's coming along nicely. I think I'm going to like it! Pretty much just have to mount pulleys and run belts. Also install center spindle

If you don't already, pull the insert a couple of times a year. You'd be amazed at all the crap that gets trapped behind it!

Your blades don't need to be replaced from what I can see -- From my view they look to have almost all of width still there; i.e. haven't been sharpened much -- Take them off, sharpen them (angle grinder with sanding wheel will do a good job), give your deck a good cleaning while you have the blades off including the top (I think there is a spring loaded tensioning slide for the belt under those belt guards, lube everything (should be at least 5 zerks; 2 for the wheels and 3 blade spindles); put everything back on and off you go -- Your deck looks to have a lot of life left in it

Today was a very productive day my father came to visit and gave me a hand to put the main part of the build together. Few more bits to do outside and lots to do on the inside also got the side lean to bit to make for the horse to go into .

Love em... Though, I like all 's....regardless of year, look, short, long, round, square, patina, perfect, etc. I guess I never really did understand the anti-black hood sentiment that is out there... Kinda odd really... Oh Well... Here's my favorite photo of my C-105 black hood...Cheers!

I'm actually getting quite anxious to drop the right two wheels in a furrow. Might scuff up the paint on those two rims, not too worried about it though. I built it to use.

Although not an original setup I bought a New Old Stock chrome light to go on my Wheel Horse light bar. I am posting becasue the light was new in a partial box, with all the original parts, and the parts list from the original box. This is something I have never seen before. Too bad Peterson Manufacturing does not make these lights any longer!

Here's my C-165 automatic. I'm the second owner, purchased it after the original owner passed away. Apparently it sat for years in a garage before one of my scouts saw it! He spotted it when the garage door was open in a house nearby where he was working. The house was a summer home and the owners had passed away. It's about ten miles from me and I must have gone there 15 times trying to catch someone there. Finally I caught up with the caretaker and he gave me a number to call in California. It was the owners son, he said it was his dads pride and joy. He actually wanted to keep it but had no use for it in California. I told him my story and my addiction to Wheel Horse tractors and promised him it would be cared for properly. I also promised him it will always be stored inside. I've had it probably 12 years and it's still one of my favorites.

@jwalk2cc, @WVHillbilly520H, @elcamino/wheelhorse, @wheelhorseman, @953 nut. First of all sorry Johnny if I'd known you wanted it I'll always lean toward a red square member. It was savable for sure but pics made it look better than it was. Now the 312 done except for a new saddle and shoes. (See, I'm gettin this). Call or message any time johnny. You and, @Horse Newbie in Monroe only guys I got down here. I find stuff all the time and will keep you in mind.

My Sickle Bar Mower Frame Assembly just got a bottom belt guard plate made! I used one from my 50 inch sickle bar mower as a template. A friend's daughter home from college actually did this work in his metal shop! I think she has talent for doing this type of work for sure!

Nice...you either love the BlackHoods or you hate them...personally I love them after buying my C125, it's now my go to tractor

I think this is the arm I have on my 312. I had to install a spacer to move the lever to the right.

It is Randy, no rust at all on it so might mean it was never used to push snow. Wear bar isn't even broken in. Against my better judgement but this one will be going in classifieds. Be nice to have but will probably never use it.

Thanks. I got it patched up with some solder. Its not pretty but it dosent leak. I do plan on sealing the inside so once that is done I think it should be good for another 50 years

The head from any M-10, M-12, M-14, K-241, K-301 or K-321 will work, but I would suggest having a repair shop put a Helicoil in the plug hole.

Very true on that dash tower thing. And the rubber cradle motor mounting setup "soaks up" a whole lotta vibrations. Maybe I'm an odd duck but after the BlackHoods I really like the gray Work Horse series. Not a Briggs fan but I love the gray/black color scheme. That's why I couldn't resist my GT1600 with a Kohler Mag transplant when I saw it up for sale!

No gifts from my bank Jimmy. My barber does give me a pen for Christmas. Course he charges 12 bucks and it only takes him 3 minutes to trim the hair out of my eyes and ears.

I vote for @AMC RULES work on the 3 rd picture.

Only Pa banks offered a new horse with a checking account. The rest of the country offered a used pen with a chain on it. In Va. we only got part of the chain.

There is a special place in my heart, and shed, for black hoods. My C-125 is my first Wheel Horse and I got to know it bolt by bolt. The C-120 in the garage now can't hold a candle to it. I know, I know, but it's a personal thing for all of us, right? She ran like a top yesterday, with the repaired 42" RD. I've got some front wheel weights that can use some paint and mounting. Now, if I can only get a yard big enough to get that mower some exercise! Thanks! for the pictures.

Here you go Jim...with this little kit it'll fit and be able to angle without hitting the front tires, or since you can't stay outta the furrows it could/should end up looking like this with some tri-ribs or a set of OTRs front AGs in 16x7.50 to match those 23x10.50 rears I know you got, plus I have an extra weight hanger available, Jeff.

That’s gonna be a dandy Jim ......how about a 2077 edition ? I’m sure @Vinylguy and you could come up with something cool and that doesn’t involve manual labor . Well maybe not for Terry.
  47. 3 points
Therin lies the problem Dan.....with the weather this nice want to get out the washer and then work on the 1077, then get a Suburban runnng, get the HY back on the plow tractor.. get the other tractors out of the magic shed... Nurse Cindy will be keeping an eye on me for sure! For those who don't know i recently had some shoulder work done so no wrenching for some time so will just have to sit with beverage in hand and look at them! Good thing seller was just a mile down the road and delivered and unloaded it all. I thought of that too about the blade too but already have one for the ATV??

Nice tractor.Looks like everything wrong can be repaired. How the hell did the last owner wear those tires out? Did he run a 50 lap modified feature race on blacktop?Have fun with your new toy.
  50. 2 points
Front tires likely wore out due to bad alignment which may also be causing your steering issues. Every tractor I have brought home has been badly out of alignment. I know these are not high speed machines but alignment is still important. When you turn the wheel then let it go while driving it should pretty much return to center on it's own. I give around 1/8" to 1/4" toe in.
