Had another sleepover with my twin nephews and niece...Of course the highlight of the evening was another round of WH Trailer rides on Uncle Jim's ... Gotta get that Uncle of the Year Award somehow...

Hello Horse fans! I had another one pop up from a residential clean out. I own and operate a roll off truck every day and have seen some interesting things in the garbage, but this makes me glad to have but sick to see thrown away. I was dumping out my 20 yard box and a Raider 14 slid out. No starter and rear end is stuck and won't roll unless I pick up one side of the rear and push. Other than that, I will hopefully fix, repaint and park next to my other joy.

On my mobile phone I use "voice-to-text" technology.... OFTEN I have to go back and - correct - the auto-correct. Of course having a Maine accent isn't helpful.....

As some of you are aware, a few weeks ago I picked up a couple of basket case 8hp Horses, a B80 and a 8hp 4 speed. Now that the 8hp 4 speed is running well, I figured it was time to look at the B80. I got it into my workshop and started the initial exam. Everything is covered in peeling red barn paint. All the control cables are rust frozen. The fuel line is dry rotted. The transmission is lubricated with ice. The wiring is...questionable. The engine is not seized. The metal is mostly straight, though there is some rust. Tonight I managed to do the initial exam, loosen up the throttle cable and governor linkage, remove the fuel tank, and remove a critter nest from behind the dash. So far I see nothing but...potential?

This will be a fairly slow build as I’m doing it weekends in between work/family time . I managed to pick up a free 10x6 shed from the garden next door as his passed away and his children wanted it gone . So I’ve taken it apart and now to repair and beautify it so the boss don’t moan . If you guys have any suggestions on fixtures or fittings that may be useful inside please let me know . The base will be going in over the next two weekends . Here are a few pics of when I picked it up and after I’d given it a coat of treatment (last picture is the new colour).

No C-130 involved so the Commando wasn't prop blasted but she was airborne. She was a roller I bought several years ago. Tore her down last fall sand blasted and paints most the parts. (Hood and fender are only primed), has not been painting weather lately. Been reassembling her over the last few weeks on a table in the heated part of the shop, with lots of interruptions for snow removal, power outages etc. She is now ready to roll out for a test firing carb adjustment etc. (If the weather ever improves...it snowed this morning.) time to jump off the work table AIRBORNE!!!!

I purchased this old girl from John in CT. John and his son restored and showed round hoods. Their work was meticulous. John had this 953 on CL I checked the ad day after day and finally I called. I had to have it. My first long frame. She came with a 5o" sickle bar & a 48" rotary. In between some tinkering and a fresh coat of paint I put her to work hauling trailer loads of firewood and dragging the landscape rake. By summers end the original 9.6 hp had tired out. Winter project!! I freshened up a 12 hp that was on the shelf, converted over the ignition & made it a gen/start. Installed it, turned the key and pressed the go button. She runs like a top. There's been a few other items along the way too like new tires, PTO set-up. I am sure you understand the list goes on. The thought crossed my mind to swap out the transaxle with hi/low range and maybe add a second set of rear wheels. Anyway I've rambled on long enough. Thanks for asking.

Maybe we could all find a great big buffet place that has EMTs on staff. Over eat , EMT treats the problem , back to the food.

Went to my first swap meet today. Needed a front wheel, a front left spindle, a brake pedal, and the brake rod. Found it all in 15 minutes for $25!

Hey, we have running water at the Show. We even have showers.....bring your own towels and bathmat..

I've tried and tried to get my wife to sleep in our enclosed trailer, but she went do it! Says she needs the running water in a hotel. Can't even get her to camp in our back yard. Emory and I would love to be there among our friends!

Since 2010 I have camped in my tent each year except the year following my back surgery. This is the "Maynard Hotel" with Zeeks horse hauler/camper in the background. For me, camping is the way to go at the show. I'm 68 and I never thought I'd sleep in a tent again, but there is something about sleeping amongst the horses, campfires with friends, and the comraderie that you just can't get at a hotel.

@953 nut I don't even know where the Blue Sky Motel is located. I think @roadapples would be the perfect person to make a suggestion on an eatery. He can drive his C-160 from his home to the Big Show.

They are HEAVY!!! Power washer and scraper like the above comments works well...I use my hand cart to tip them on the side and then lay down upside down to clean while they are still on the cart...Cart acts like a lever to make it east to move / flip the deck over... But, isn't this in the kids' / grandkids' job description? Offer "Free" rides AFTER "we" clean the deck, change the oil, , (fill in the blank with any other WH maintenance chore)...

...probably best to have 'em on standby...just in case.

Me thinks you are correct... or...it's the very rare NOS Cigar Holder with dual spark plug / automatic cigar lighter (spark plug does both...). Just insert cigar and turn the key - tractor starts and cigar gets lit... Problem was, they didn't line up the "holder" with the spark plug so it was recalled...

That's how I got a C195. The people threw it away because it was old and wanted to go green. When I say green, I mean the rechargeable battery lawnmower kind. It's a shame that something well constructed needs maintenance because of 30 years of negligence gets the axe. It's got a roof over it too now .

Now slow down fellas! If we keep going at this pace with over two months to go, we're all gonna need pacemakers! Im like a kid waiting on Christmas. Heck the older I get, the more I realize it's almost better than Christmas (goodies and friend wise that is)!

I've tried to explain that to her. She keeps paying for the room, so I guess we'll be at the Holiday Inn again. If it was me, air mattress in the trailer, canopy out front, and a cooler for drinks and snacks and I'd be good!

That is a yes Jim. Chris and I usually do the Mexican restaurant or the Texan and usually some of the group will join us. We have about 4 or 5 places that we have found that we like to go to during the show.

I love camping but my wife, not so much. Both of us have back pains and its hard to find something to sleep on that matches our bed. Even hotel beds kill me to sleep in. We want to het an enclosed trailer and convert it for sleeping in. Build it myself the way we want it. We’ll see if that happens.

My wife and I have been known to camp there and many other tractor shows as well. The tent has since gave way to a queen size air mattress in the horse hauler.

We would never know when Jim got there, He's like "The Phantom"! We've hit Texas Roadhouse the last two years on Thursday. I always get ribs. That CJ's sounds interesting. Friday night is kind of hit and miss with the show going on and the ice cream and cruise. We could hit CJ's on one night and the roadie on another.
