11 pointsOk, at 6 pm Mike decided it was a good time to fire up the C-175 and have the first round with winter storm Toby. The snow is HEAVY so it was time to clear the driveway the first time. The weather forcaster says in our area it will snow all night. And I was worried about the tire rim coming off the spindal. Glad to say SO FAR, SO GOOD its staying on Keeping fingers crossed on my end. Anyway heres a few pics of Mike doing his thing, that C-175 is a good machine and is sure earning its keep today. Suprising the power. I think more weight in the rear would be good to. Sometimes the tires "skip". Glenn

10 pointsI figured I would start a thread on this tractor now I have all the parts and will be working on it between other projects. I blasted the worst spots of the hood to see what I had to work with. I have a little welding to do.
-
8 pointsI love my big red machine. In berks county pa. My 314 with my plow makes little work of the first foot of snow. Waiting for the next foot.

7 pointsCaleb is competing in his first Christian school convention this week. I competed in it as a kid years ago myself and very much enjoyed it. I have just finished judging the metal working and woodworking projects... The convention has about 140 different events that a teen can compete in including but not limited to arts and crafts, music, platform, athletics, photography, writing categories, etc. He started the day by competing in the physical fitness category. You have to do as many pull-ups, push-ups, and sit-ups in an allotted time. He had some tough competition and came in third but did 4 pull-ups, 41 push-ups, and 165 sit-ups. The most exciting thing for him was to have his second cousin Paul (a 20 year Navy veteran in the middle) there to watch him compete and cheer him on. Local circle buddies @Achto and @WHX14 and @Rp.wh hopefully will get to meet Paul this summer as he is home from the Navy as in retired. So, I’m hoping that we can get another WH fanatic as Paul likes all things mechanical! Jordan on the left was the winner with 22, 60, 257. It is his 3rd year in this competition and Caleb’s first. Paul set the record in Physical Fitness in 1995 and it still holds today! Then after lunch it was time to head for the track events. Caleb wore the shirt that Paul got when he was training for the EOD program in Florida back in 2003. He lined up for the 400meter run and dedicated it to Paul. He took off and was slightly behind the leader but by the time he hit the 200 meter mark he had taken a 5 stride lead. By the time he reached the finish line he had about a 7 second lead! He did Paul good with his first place finish overall in the 400 meter. He also entered in the arts category in pen and ink and drew this picture. For not being the artist of the family, I was proud of his work. He likely won’t place because of the quality of the first four places but I’m so glad that he learned from his art teacher so much. I can’t draw a good stick man. @WVHillbilly520H can appreciate this with his art skills. Tomorrow he has platform events both speech and music. More pics and details to follow...

7 pointsAs of now we are about 8 hours into this Nor’easter 😱.... here’s what I have on my driveway so far. I may go back out and check a few locations to get an average. Ya know, cause of all the snow drifting and such 🙄
-
7 pointsAll: I built one of these a yew years back from a running 854 with a bad 4 speed Unidrive. Picked up a complete 79 C81, minus the motor for 75 bucks. The pictures show it with a 702 hood and short 7HP air cleaner. Had to change the driven pulley on the Unidrive, shorten the dipstick & tube, and use a clutch rod from a Raider 10. I use it mostly for snow plowing. I also am interested in how get the parking brake hooked up. Right now, the plow keeps it from rolling in neutral. Bill

7 pointsI used Johns threaded rod method on the Low Rider. I have polished aluminum tubing that I planned to slide over the rod, but never got it put on because the clearance got tight where the tie rods pass thru the sides of the hood.
-
6 pointsEvery since I sold the 416, with cab and snowblower we have been getting hammered. Might as well blame me for being a jinx. Tomorrow is supposed to be really bad. Goid luck to those "in the path". Ed, you mentioned Spring, where is it? Glenn
-
6 pointsWe are forecast to have a couple inches of snow overnight in North Carolina. Perfect for me because our granddaughter is visiting from Florida and has never seen snow.
-
5 pointsAnd came with the first decent snowfall. Six inches of one of the heaviest snows ever in the first wave this morning, and 5-10 more in the forecast for tonight. Blowers were useless in this saturated snow, but the rubber chained 312H plowed five driveways, mailboxes, and the stone road in about 0ne hour.
-
5 pointsThis is the first snowstorm that I was able to use my 520-HC for the entire cleanup last time I had a module going out and it was too hard to start. Now it works great! It made it easy to move the junk the snowplows left at the end of the driveways. Still not finished yet just came in for a break.
-
5 pointsSpring here? Guess the white wet cold blowing stuff......onion snow? "Onion snow" is a colloquialism in the state of Pennsylvania and refers to the final snowfall before the end of the spring season. Onion planting occurs around "onion snow" time. Onion snow is sometimes said to mean snow that occurs after the traditional time of planting spring onions."
-
5 pointsJust a half hour ago pic...spring you say ...on a side note @Ed Kennell that wet snow does blow with the correct blower a 2stage 7" heavy wet last Monday no problem video (except for BILS gravel driveway.) VIDEO0073.mp4

5 pointsIt has been a cold long winter here in west central ILLIFORNIA but thankfully not a lot of snow. Lake opens in a couple weeks so hoping for early spring to get the water turned on. Cant wait to start working the commando again. Hoping this is the last winter blast for all our east coast members.
-
5 pointsI'm hoping the second wave tonight will be lighter and more blower friendly. The 520H needs some work, and that warm cab will be easy to take tomorrow morning.

4 pointsNot trying to spend your $ but I'm thoroughly impressed with the OTR brand AGs I bought at the beginning of the year and run truer to size than some off brands like I have on the '95 both brands are 23x10.50, Jeff.
-
4 pointsGo with the 8 speed. Hydros have a tendency to be pushed by the tiller and result in erratic ground speed.
-
4 pointsI did use a set of 1", 4-bolt hubs on a 1" axle on this large utility cart, worked nice too. So there is that as well. I should really "think" about this tire thing because the Snow doesn't hit here like in New England! I remember coming out of the back door and seeing nothing but Snow! I had to keep a shovel in the back hallway to dig out!
-
4 pointsHave you tried roller chain on the front ? Half track .... YES !!! You build. We watch. Everybody wins.
-
4 pointsSnowing here at a pretty good rate, but it's really not sticking yet. I'm sure that will change they are still saying 6-12" I guess we'll know by tomorrow. Truck, plow and sander backed in the garage ready to go. Now I'm just going to hold down this couch next to my wood stove and wait. Which probably will turn into a nap as the stove puts me into a heat coma!!
-
4 pointsMcMaster-Carr. This one is a little larger than original but works. Send me your mailing address and I can send you one. I had to order extra for a minimum order. I can't use 8....lol
-
4 pointsNot much done lately on the RJ. Waiting on some parts. Did get the lift handle spring on but needs adjusted. Found the original paint color under lift handle grip.

3 pointsThe chute clogged maybe two or three times at the snowplow banks by the road but for the most part did great! I even had to lower the deflector because I started throwing snow at the neighbors!
-
3 pointsThat's some great accomplishments for his first year or any year. Tell Caleb to keep up the good work.
-
3 pointsJosh, Yes sir I can, Caleb drew that very good job well done. I hope he does well overall through out the competition, other than the 3 years art in highschool the 2 best things I earned in my school career was 1) in eight grade all WV students were required to take WV history then near the end of year/class take a test and at least 2 or more of the highest scoring students from each of the 55 counties got to go to the state capital to be "knighted" as a "Knight of the Golden Horseshoe" I myself being one of the few in 1985, 2) in 12th grade during Vo-Tech won the local and regional VICA auto mechanics competition going on to state and placing in the top 10 (computer engine management was becoming the latest thing and our teacher wasn't up to date) but anyways good memories, hopefully Caleb utilizes all of these moments for his future endeavors,(don't mean to hi-jack your post or toot my own horn), Jeff.

3 pointsDegrease it and give it a close visual. Very likely it's a combination of several spots that are loose... not just one area.
-
3 pointsTaks guya, @WVHillbilly520H, @elcamino/wheelhorse, @953 nut, @pfrederi, @dells68, for giving me the encouragement to continue on with removal. Was this close to tossing em in the dumpster yesterday. Took all your advise and went to my favorite rust breaker, DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR. Sprayed the bead and took a chisel and cut the metal bands on the bead and they just about fell off!!!!! Thanks again all!!! Started cleaning them up after. Will 10.50's work on my 312-8? These are wider rims than I have now. Or should I go with 9.50's.
-
3 pointsFor WHX14 Thanks for the suggestion.....now this newbie knows for the next time. The link you sent, however, did allow ordering information for my need. The end results were great. Sleep well tonight because you took care of my need!
-
3 pointsSomeone did mount snowmobile skis on the front axle, Think () the picture is here in the forums somewhere. I just plowed 6"+ snow with my Work Horse, weights, chains. Long gravel drive. Did well. Spring on blade fixed. One of my sons pushin' the wet cold heavy nasty junque.
-
3 pointsWhen I was little and we had a 3 wheeler it could float in the creek out back... not sure how that applies to a D in the snow but it just crossed my mind!
-
3 pointsI have both the Harbor Freight small tire and regular size tire machines. Both do sort of OK for what they were designed for. However they do not do real well if the tire bead is really stuck on the rim. i bent the heck out of the bead breaking part of the larger machine. To break stubborn beads i use one of these. The gray one is a beast and will do up to 24 inch wheels. But it is a bit slow. Most time i resort to the slide hammer. Edit: started thinking about how much I have invested in tire tools, also have 10 different Kentool tire irons and Cheatah bead seater. But rough calculation between WHs Big tractors military vehicles and trailers/wagons i have over 100 pneumatic tires to worry about.

3 pointsDaughter and SIL arrived last night from the Alabama coast, pulling their travel trailer. They couldn't do their steep drive so they came to my driveway. I plowed it just before dark. 11AM it looked like this and another 5 to 10 predicted. Will need the snowblower, for the first time this year when all is done.
-
3 pointsI don't have the answer but I'm curious to see what becomes of this subject so I'm going to fall along
-
3 pointsThe plows are off the work truck and I'm hoping to keep them that way for a while. Seems when it came, it really came... but I've never seen 53" of snow in just 3 storms, so what do I know!? I do know the 22 hour days of plowing were ridiculous, with customers calling after my 2nd trip there asking when I'd be there to plow!
-
3 points"Water problems"? When I was travelling on the USS Guam I never saw a squid () with "water problems". Once I got my sea legs my "water problems" were over.
-
3 pointsHang in there fellas. Usually the nice thing about these late storms is the snow doesn't stick around long. Course if the ground is still froze the melting snow can create water problems! I always worry about our furry friends in the woods. This time is always the hardest for them as them don't have much to eat till spring green up.
-
3 pointsThat's pretty awesome. I worked with a guy up here in Massachusetts a few years back. He was originally from Denton Texas. He had a son, 11 years old. Had never seen more than just flurries of snow. Needless to say he was more excited than any gift you could have given him!
-
3 pointsYep, that's mayhem telling everybody... to get in your car, & hit the road.

3 pointsYeah we are in for 5-8" more tomorrow. It's got me in a jam since I have everything ready for the swept axle swap but I need the tractor for plow duty
-
3 pointsGot the mule drive retro fit onto the raider. Had to cut a notch out of the front bracket the hood mounts to but it worked out good. Question on rear axels, does the hub set screw get set behind the key? One side had the set screw right in the keyway and the other behind it. I tightend it down while behind it but questioned how far the axel is sticking through the hub.
-
3 pointsI'm sure sorry for you all on the east coast. Here in the winter/water Wonderland I haven't seen a good snow in 4 weeks. I haven't plowed snow since mid February. I think the weatherman said we got 51 inch's of snow this winter. But in the South and West there gitting tornadoes so it could always be worse.
-
2 pointsJust came inside from a few hours of seat time as well as the eMax, first snow to stop up the 2stage cute but also last week ate the rubber paddles off the impeller with BILS gravel driveway ,here's a video or 2 of the deuce in 10"+ wet heavy SPRING snow, videograghy by ways of my wife, Jeff. 20180321_121909.mp4 20180321_122239.mp4

2 pointsFinished up the 518. Came out pretty well. With the Eaton 1100 I sailed up the Driveway the 700 would struggle going up. Very happy with the results. I would like to thank the members here for their assistance.

2 pointsIt’s matthews paint single stage. Thanks for the comments. Can’t wait to see it back together myself. Wrestling hydraulic hoses right now. Getting closer.
