Good Morning All, Happy Nor Easter 3... took dog for a walk out in the back 40. Took a picture of the junk Sears Craftsman LT1036 I put between 2 trees on New Years Day 2017. Motors junk, transaxles junk... its all rust. I bought it for $5... and figured it will sit between these trees forever. Maybe somebody will find it in 100 years and go WTF???? Heres what it looks like today... mice are snuggled deep inside as it snows. Lol Tony

The amp draw of the lights is a minor consideration, it is the amp draw of a chafed wire against the frame that lets the magic smoke out of the wire.

Success on so many levels this evening. Transmission is free and everything looks good and spins smooth. Steering shaft may need to be cut out. It is froze in the lower sleeve. Hood gets dropped off tomorrow to get fixed. Hope to have it by next weekend.

I picked up a new torque wrench and checked the head bolts. Spec should be 300 - 360 inch pounds. Turns out 0 of the 10 were at that spec. A couple were over 300. The rest were under 300. One was actually at about 200. I brought them all up to spec. We'll try to get this engine running again after I finish installing the new battery cables. Probably repurpose my old torque wrench to something like an oddly-shaped hammer.

with this...These recent storms coming with the ground not being frozen between me plowing a gravel drive and the township plowing a dirt road the sweepster is going to get a work out.

I found it on Facebook and I bought it. I believe I over paid a little, but I wanted it. She has a leak in the hydraulics, I haven't investigate that yet but I think it's coming from the pump. Missing the plate below the gear shift that covers the pump. Needs new headlights lenses, I sent a check out this morning to Mr. Glen Pettit. It's also missing the tag that shows the shift pattern along with the serial number. Can the serial number be found someplace else on the tractor?

So I have this parts 418-A I have been sitting on till I got the chance to start working on skittles again. So today I got out and started stripping all the brake linkage and motion control assembly off it. I started eyeing it up and it looked so similar in dimensions to the 418. I figured lets see what fits and doesn’t fit. I took a saw and cut out the side plate for the tunnel, ground some threaded nuts off the back and laid it up next to the side panel on skittles. It is unbelievable that 2 tractors, different models and transaxles, 15 years later the parts would fit in the same holes. I had to drill out one hole for the bushing but the brake cam, motion assy and the control rod from the hydro cam to the lever all bolted right in. Have to cut the “happy” slot in the side panel but most everything else is a direct fit. Will have to straighten and thread the brake pedal rod and use a clevis on it instead of the 90* bend and cotter pin. Ran out of daylight.

That's a valid point. I'll make sure to put some extra magic smoke sealant on all the wires.

Hey Mike? I'm not sure if this had occurred to you yet but there might be some people that would frown on you throwing car parts in particular back into the road. Perhaps you should make that a night time activity?

State HW Dept. has been widening their road for years. I’ll probably spend a day with the Yard Boss throwing all the busted up pavement, rocks. car parts etc. back out to the middle of the road.

Seat frame mostly painted. Likely put a couple more coats for good measure. Before and after: Let's give it a couple days to dry and us to get through this next Nor'easter. We'll get some foam and Marine vinyl on there fairly soon.

Awesome Horse. Love the 2-tone paint scheme. Blizzard of '93. Wifey and I were just talking about that yesterday. 36" of snow and drifts higher. No blowers or plows then either. Took 3 people all day to shovel 110' driveway. I didn't get to work until Wednesday. They finally cleared our road with a bulldozer! Today I did 7" of snow, 500' of driveway with the 416-H and thrower in 2 hours. Gotta love it. Mike in Brackney

@ebinmaine your not going to use a fuse ???? You need a fuse for the lights and the voltage gage. That's why I use the A terminal on the switch that's for accessories. A fuse or 2 never hurts and it will help stop cooked wires.

There are many posts on here describing the many techniques used to remove these stubborn pins. They include penetrating liquids, drilling small holes in each half of the casing lug to get the penetrant to the pin, heat and candle wax, drilling the pin nearly thru and driving the pin out using a drift inside the drilled pin, cutting the pin in three pieces with a radiac wheel to remove the hitch and then press the pieces out on a press and drill the center piece out of the tranny. Just search "frozen hitch Pins or hitch pin removal" and you will find the horror stories. GOOD LUCK

I purchased one of the (really) cheapo clone carbs on Ebay for my 418C. As delivered the choke arm lever was opposite ( facing down ) and the 418 requires the up facing choke arm so it would "pull" to close the choke. Fashioned a small arm and sandwiched it to the down facing choke arm. Works perfectly, no dimensions as I eyeballed up the travel line from the choke cable to the arm. The 418 starts and idles and runs perfectly.

Nothing special about the sign, just your typical laser cut piece of steel with perfectly symmetrical spacing of indexed holes with minute steel holding center hub detail, including recessed placing of indexed support screws with a flawless application of paint......can't say as I'm impressed ($%#&^%$%#*) no big deal, ($%#&%*&^%) See this kind of thing every day.... I'm not humbled or anything............. Unbelievable, just frigging unbelievable.... Chris

Yes I have had a few containers with various items shipped across the pond. To point out a few things to consider, this would be the short list. First off, let me warn you. Things may seem cheap in the US, and so they often are compared to EU prices, but before you have it on your porch, it may well be another matter. Second off, let me tell you the biggest hurdle to overcome. The american you are going to buy it from................ Yes that's right. Most are very cautious, and many will not even talk to you, let alone believe you, when you call them up from Sweden. Trust me, I have been there many times. Also with people from this forum. It was to be fair, also people from this forum that got me set up eventually, and for that I am deeply greatful. THANKS GUYS! So with persistence and luck, you will find someone that is willing to trust you. Thing is, there are many scammers out there, and to the average American Joe, you might not sound much different than the Indian lady from microsoft that calls you up, just to tell you that your computer needs fixing, and that she only needs your bank info and first born to fix it for you.............. Shipping is expensive, and the less you ship, the more expensive it is. The smallest amount of bulk cargo for container shipping is normally 2 SQ meters. For 1 tractor you can get offers from at least app 500 USD. and upwards to 800 USD. from the shipping companies, and even more from those trying to make money on selling out a partial space like car transportes that wants to make good of the last space in a container, and freight forwarders. There I have been quoted over 1200 USD. This is the container freight alone. Seller will need to fill out correct invoice and export forms and what not. Not many private sellers will want to bother with it. You need to consider inland (US) shipping and handeling, and that can be really costly, depending on where your goods are, in relation to a shipping hub. And who you have on the US side to handle it for you. Calculate at least .5 USD per mile, + handeling fees. If you have an import registered business, this next step is a bit easier and smooth, but in general you can count on the following. When the goods arrive in EU, you need to pay toll, app 12% depending on the goods. That's 12% of everything so far. Cost, inland transportation, shipping, handeling, etc. etc. Then there is the VAT, that you then have to pay on top on the previous total. Not sure what level you are at, but here in DK, that is 25%. So around accumulated 40% on top just for taxes. Then comes the inland transport from EU port to your place. If you can't pick it op from a major harbor your self, that will also cost a fair lot depending on distance. Be sure all offers you get include all paperwork and actual handeling of the goods, customs handeling, toll handeling, VAT handeling, harbor fees, fuel surcharge etc.etc. Be clear with yourself about the risks you run. You buy something you have not seen or tried out. You trust a stranger (most likely the seller) to handle it, pack it, ship it etc, and that's even befor it gets in the hands of a shipping company. You also need to pay up front for it, and hope all is good when it arrives. I'm not saying everyone will try to cheat you, but the bad seeds are certainly out there, which leads back to the foremost point, that you need someone in the US that you can trust, and who wants to work with you on this. Just for fun, lets make a little calculation. 1 pc. RJ58 nice in good complete condition. Lets put that at a 800 USD. Then you need it transported to the shipping hub. It needs to be packaged/crated etc. Lets say you are not too far from a shipping hub, lets say 500 miles. Now lets assume you can get the seller to handle that shipping for you, you may be looking at 300-400 USD for that. Lets say 350. Then it is now at 1150. Then the shipping company takes over and does everything they are supposed to do. Lets put that in the low end at 500 USD incl. all. (can easily be more). Now it is at the EU border, and it is also at 1650 USD. Then you pay Toll, let's low ball it to 10%. That's 165 USD, bringing it up to 1815 USD. Then it is VAT time. I know you have different brackets in Sveden, but I also think this will hit the highest, making it 25%. That racks up 453.75 USD more. Total is now 2268.75 USD. And you still have it sitting on the docks....................................... I'm not trying to burst your boble here, but to be honest, things most often at least triple in price, when you take home single items. The best advice I can give you, is to find someone who takes a whole container home at a time, and piggyback or preorder with that person. Then all the above obstacles are mostly out the way, and most often you also can get a way cheaper tractor, due to costs being minimized. And since all the costs are taxed too, that is what just kills it. If you are in no hurry, and do not mind the transport from Denmark, I can perhaps offer to help you out, as I most likely will put another shipment together this fall. Feel free to send me a message

@ebinmaine @oldredrider is right. wire size does determine fuse size. So if you wired your tractor with 14 gage use the 15amp fuse. 16 gage 7.5amp 14 gage wire needs 15amp 12 gage needs 20amp

Lubing the the threads with engine oil is fine. Most engine manufacturers just state that you should lube the threads of head bolts before torquing. I even lube the under side of the bolt head when I install head bolts, this might be over kill but it makes me feel better.

I took a couple hours and messed around with "Paint" on my PC and used @BOB ELLISON 's schematic as a base for my own rendering of the wiring on m C160. Colors are accurate to the best of the program. Notes: Ammeter out, Volt meter in. Volt meter positive is connected to ignition terminal so as to get a volt reading while cranking, not just when in "run" position. No safety switches are noted, or used. Extra Ground cables are connected to starter bolt, volt meter light ground, voltage regulator mounting bolt. Print, save etc for your own.

Well you (the american people) elected the door nobs pulling you in that direction. EU may look glittery on the outside, but trust me, being here seems a lot less fun. Take two extremes. EU, and in particular northern Europes rules and regulations, combined with the taxes you would not even believe if I told you about. Compare it to the wild west. Where would you choose to live? Yes it is extreme, but to us in the EU, US was 15-20 years ago, the closest you could get to that freedom, without sacrificing a Certain standard of things. Today you are trying to be like us, and I can for the life of me not see why. You are in the process of breaking down what made america special. Not my place to say so, I know, but it is an observation from a European, that has spend a few years in the US, and found it to be less and less magical to come back over the years. Not trying to stir up a political commotion here.

If you have the time to wait, I can get it over here much cheaper. Last container I did from the US was a full 40 foot high cube. Garden and lawn tractors, decks and other implements, parts and what not. I have some pretty solid contacts in the US at some good places that can find most anything, and I plan another container for this fall. Anyone interested in getting stuff from the US to Europe are welcome to contact me. I can probably find room for most anything, as long it is not prohibited items or dangerous goods. Dangerous goods can be done though, but it is pretty costly. I can arrange onwards shipping from Denmark to anywhere in Europe too.

Yes that is a 42 inch deck. They work well and I prefer the rear discharge for safety . If you cut your grass regularly and not let it get too tall they work fine. Tall grass wet or dry will leave irregular cut and windrows.

@WHX14, finally got some measurable snow here and went on the maiden voyage with the OTR AGS, NO chains NO complaints pushing the 2stage up and through 7" wet heavy white crap, first impressions (with plenty of weight liquid and iron) I'm very pleased with my purchase had a few places where I wondered if I was going to make it but they found traction and pulled right out, follow the yellow line and that's everything I cleared last evening, on a side note don't install rubber paddles on the impeller if you have a gravel drive way as my BILs gravel ate most of the rubber away 🤕, Jeff.

I had to finish up the tractor today since we are getting another 12" tomorrow. I needed to mount my facet pump. I had made some brackets for another project and never used them. Just a piece of 3/16" with a 2" 1/4"x20 bolt wedded thru it. I cut in half, and drilled a 5/16" hole in it to mount one of the cable tube bolts thru. Not pretty but it works. Now it will be out of the way of the rock shaft and dip stick. Now I just need the cable and chain.

That engine does look good in black! I wasnt sure if doing the wheels black would offend anyone lol. I have a vision in my head so we shall see how she looks as it starts to come together. Side project, Today I put some tubes into my c81 front wheels. I quickly shot them in antique white. The rusty ole girl looks good with fresh paint on the wheels.
